  7. I thought this topic would warm up in the autumn! I'll never forget 27th October 2002, it was IMO just a notch above the other gales here!
  8. Dry. Mostly overcast of stratocumulus - grey, gold and faint orange. A very autumnal sky - and rather gloomy for the past hour, despite a few clearish breaks. Some lovely sunshine today though, with just a couple of light blustery showers. Temp: 12 c. Wind: NW, 14 mph. Pressure: 1013 mb, rising.

  11. Dy with a little blue sky to the east. Streaky mid-level stratus, in shades of grey - and some gold to the west. 1014 mb. Temp: 17 c, and feeling muggy. Wind: 14 mph, SW.

  14. A little patchy meduim level stratus to the NE. Otherwise, clear and starry with hardly a breath of wind. Trees still dripping. Cold, 8 c.
  15. I had my doubts all the time about the snow showers on Sunday gone!
  16. Overcast, steady gentle rain. Very light westerly breeze. Rather cold at 10 c. EDITED 9:50 PM: Rain just about stopped, light WSW wind. 9 c.
  17. It may be a good idea to hack the clematis in late February or March instead. An autumn 'cull' might kill it! After pruning, give it a thick mulch of compost to keep the roots cool and damp for the summer. A general fertiliser will also help it to excel!

  20. Chilly, dull and wet. Fresh and gusty SSW wind - gusting to 25 mph. EDITED 4:20 pm: Heavy rain now - but less dark to the west EDITED 4:30 pm: Rain has stopped, nimbostratus has rapidly moved away to the NE. Some overhead brightness, but still lots of thick altostratus and a blustery SW wind. Looks like the warm front has passed over then! More rain ahead of the cold front, I bet, by this evening.
