Snowing here in Sunbury, so is it further west than anticipated?
-
Light rain in Sunbury but no visible thawing
-
Personally for me they got the forecast spot on, said we would get between 5-10cm and we have about 7 here!
-
Just a dusting in sunbury, they seemed to get that part of the forecast right then, what about today?
-
Drip drip here but still snowing. Snow is currently sliding off the front of the bonnet!
-
Think it must be the trains Jezzer as can see it here too!
-
Reckon we have about 3 cm here, can't believe there is 6cm in Shepperton or Twickenham as posted on here?
-
Would say we have about 2cm here and no tv

Any bodys Sky box just died or is it mine?

Think we are starting to see the serious stuff now, complete covering with grass in back garden disappearing
-
Definitely heavier here now and starting to build up
-
Heavier stuff looks like it might arrive here soon. Certainly a little heavier here in the last 5 minutes
-
Looking at radar it seems to have intensified over the top of us!
Only a covering at present but still coming down
-
Snowing heavily in sunbury, building up a nice little covering now
-
just off nursery road by leisure centre, light snow settling on car here

Where in sunbury are you Tara? Snowing lightly here in my part of Sunbury!

Surely we can't be treated to a good old streamer this year as well. It would go down as one memorbale winter if we did! As for tomorrow morning, I was wondering the same thing. Any experts help us out here?

Just thought I'd take this opportunity to reflect on the recent cold spell. Until today I thought we were never going to see a real snowfall out of this spell. I guess things come to those who wait!
Last Tuesday night saw a very disappointing amount of snow fall here even though inches and inches fell only 10 miles to the west of me. This was slightly made up during Wednesday afternoon (6th Jan) when we must have had a good couple of inches fall which was still sticking around in parts over the weekend.
We then had the false alarm of Saturday night when the met office and BBC forecast up to 10cm here and what did we end up with - nothing.
Just when I had begun to lose hope last night arrived. To be honest I hadn't been taking the forecast seriously what with Saturday's let down. When I woke up at 6 there was probably about an inch lying on top of the car. After sliding into work on roads which hadn't been gritted it then continued to snow heavily for the next 5 hours giving us a fantastic 4/5 inches - and it was the perfect snow to make snowballs with.
We then ended the afternoon with an hour of the fluffiest snow I have seen for years - fantastic.
Whatever winter throws at us now I have had my fix of the white stuff!

Met office back up what the media are saying
Very cold with snow becoming widespread in England and Wales.
This Evening and Tonight:
Snow in the southeast of the UK becomes more widespread this evening, eventually affecting much of southern England by dawn. Across northern parts another very cold and icy night with snow showers easing. Strong northeasterly winds spread across the UK.
Sunday:
Periods of snow with bitter northeasterly winds spreading across much of England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland will continue very cold but mainly dry and sunny

Yes I don't doubt Steve, but how can the BBC be so wrong with this?
BTW - don't think I'll mention inches and the word preserve in the same sentence again!
-
The BBC forecast was very different to the one given at 5.30ish. Looks a bit more promising as especially the snow that will fall will be dry and powdery, All is not lost...
is the whole region expected to be above 0 in the next couple of hours, would like to preserve the few inches i have!

Interesting watching the bbc forecast on the website suggests quite a bit more snow on Monday, possible a countrywide event?
