Very heavy shower in Newark right now, big spots of rain. Nothing else yet though.

I tend to try and avoid whatever comes from Mansfield
Just heard the first faint rumbles of thunder
It’s missed us in Newark by around 4 miles to the west. There has been constant thunder from the storms for the last 40 or so mins and the radar returns look impressive. The air smells fresh too but we missed the rain also! (at least for now) Fingers crossed that it reaches you.

13.3c and thick cloud cover giving some patchy drizzle. Not the best start to the day. The cloud didn’t lift at all yesterday either.

Wasn’t expecting this but we’ve had a good 20 minutes of heavy rain and nearly constant thunder from the cell that developed close to Newark. It’s moving slowly away now and the thunder is getting less frequent too. I only saw a handful of forked lightning strikes though. An unexpectedly good start to the storm season for here.

oh really? that's impressive when the band of rain is a good distance, unless its all elevated, is it quite frequent or every so often?
Every couple of minutes at least now. The clip is from just now looking South East towards Waddington/Grantham direction. Obviously not quite that close but general direction.

Looks like storms too far south for us in Lincoln sadly
I'm not so sure. I can see the lightening from my back garden, it's definitely getting closer to us now.

Big thunderstorm over Newark right now. Frequent lightening, every 15 or 20 seconds, occasionally hearing shotgun thunder and getting lots of rumbles around us. Heavy rain in bursts. Its moving away North East now according to the radar. Good morning everyone!

I'm in Newark and we've just had the heaviest rain I've seen for years. Cars pulling over, roads flooded, torrential very gusty rain, visibility down to around a hundred metres at a guess and half a dozen flashes of lightening. Really intense storm for 15 mins.

First couple of rumbles of thunder in ages over my location just now. Steady rain too.

Balderton near Newark is showing as 42c 107f incredible heat
Whilst only being an amateur reading, this is the temperature from my back garden at 15:40 today in Balderton. The wind has picked up also, feeling like a blow torch and adding to the already astonishing feel of this heat.
Yesterday we got upto 38c here. I'm not to a degree or 2 so I'll say we've definitely hit +40c

Around 4am was woken up by thunder and saw my first night lightening of the year, brilliant! Another storm came through around 6am. Loads of lightning and thunder, with very heavy rain for 20 minutes.

I've been watching the storm that just skirted past Newark to the North on the rada. Interesting to see it turn left and back build for 15 mins or so. Fizzled out after constant rumbles of thunder in the distance though.
More showers seem to be building to the North West of Nottingham too.

Heavy but short lasting Graupel shower now.
Air temp plus 1.6c
Dew minus 3.6c
Surface temp plus 7.4c
Light snow on the back edge.
-
Well, we had our first heavy shower of the day within the last half hour or so and despite it trying to settle, the ground temps are plus 3.2c and it quickly melted.
Air temp is plus 0.2c
Dew point is - 3.2c
Plenty more chances to come this winter though.
-
Well this is a treat! Must be nearly 2 inches on the ground now. For where I am, that's verging on a snow drift
May get a decent covering before it's done today.

Heavy rain in Newark at the moment.
Air temp 4.6c, Dew point 3.6c Wind out of the North East with rain band moving NNW currently.
-
Storm here now. Heavy rain and thunder and lightning. Lincoln getting some too I think. Some happy people over there now.
-
Lots of thunder heard around here in Newark, and aside from half a dozen large rain drops nothing else at the moment. The storm has developed nicely as it passed north east though.
