  1. Heres the chart which bought thundersnow in Jan 2004 http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/20...00120040128.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/20...00220040128.gif I remmeber this day very well. It started raining heavily at around 1:30 and continued for about half an hour. Then all of a sudden there was lightining and thunder. After this the rain turned immediatly to snow. Snowflakes were so big it settled everywhere straight away. This snowed continued for about 2 hours and left about 4" of snow. Temperatures got down to -7C at night. Next day schools were cancelled . This was only the second time school were closed because of snow.
  2. I dont seem to remmber this event well but my parents talk about this one alot. It was probably the best snow event for the midlands in the last 25 years. I remember the snow being very wet and stuck instantly to trees and power lines. We were without power for about 48 hours. We had about 12-13" of snow. I remember the snow lasting for about 1-2 weeks even though there was a thaw.
  3. Here we have had lying snow for two Novembers in a row. November 2004 http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/20...00120041119.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/20...00220041119.gif We were forcasted to have rain with mabey a little snow on the hills of N England. It started raining heavily early afternoon and this soon turned to snow after 6 'o'clock. It lasted for about 2 hours or so then stopped. All surfaces were covered by about 2 inches of snow with mabey 3/4 inches on the grass. This was a shock as it wasn't forcasted. The snow hung around for 2 days or so then melted. November 2005 http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/20...00120051125.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/archive/ra/20...00220051125.gif These were probably the best november charts i had seen in a while. We had snow all afternoon but none of it settled. Then around 5 o clock there was a burst of very heavy snow. The snowflakes measured about 2.5/3" in diametre. It was probaly the biggest flakes of snow i've seen in my life. But this only lasted for about 40 minutes and left about 2.5/3" of snow on the pavement. But some of it melted and by morning there was only about an inch or so.
  4. Currently overcast with heavy rain, sleet, hail and snow. Temps down to 3C
  5. I am not really that intrested in the CET it's the snowfall that counts. Whats the point of having a CET of say 4C when you have had zero snowfall. I think we should have CESC(Central england snow cover). 1cm looks reasonable to me for march.
  6. I'll go for 7.3C. Cool periods along with some milder ones.
  7. I never thought at the start of the month that my guess of 4.6C was going to be too high
  8. I have to go for 4.6C. Alternate mild and cold spells bur cold being more dominant.
  9. Nice pics. Seems to be a quite a lot of snow up there 6-7" mabey. Anyway 3C, heavy rain
  10. Heavy snow has stopped fot a moment lest about 1" on the ground. Looking at the radar there is more to come
  11. Light snow here, temps -0.8 Snow getting heavier and started to settle
