  1. It's snowing again at my workplace nr. Lingfield, West Sussex.
  2. Woke up to over an inch of snow this morning. It was still snowing til about 8:30. Took a long time to get into work this morning, saw a bmw driver scratching his head whilst his car was parked in a ditch!
  3. Earlier in the snow discussion thread I read that a dewpoint temperature would be too low for snow to fall as it would dry out by the time it gets there. Can a kind soul please explain the science behind this?
  4. I like your moon Stormchaser. You can make out lots of detail on it.
  5. Well I'll start things off with my first ever entry. One is taken off the moon on a clear January night and the other is the stormy skies above the Spinnaker tower when I was visiting Portsmouth.

    What a flaming day!

Oh dear, it never rains but it pours!! Good luck with sorting your money out, there is nothing more frustrating that expecting money in your account and discovering that it isn't there! If you need cheering up, try reading the net weather dictionary in the autumn discussion. It picked me out of the blues yesterday!
  7. Snow Hope - Term used to describe winters in the UK. Snow Joke - Term used to describe winters in the UK. Snow Chance - Term used to describe winters in the UK. and so on and so forth
  8. Viking - that had me laughing my pants off!!! Thank you for cheering me up on an otherwise disappointing day!
  9. Well I left it a bit longer that I thought I would but here I am again. More random ramblings. Looking forward to these storms that will be passing through in the next few days. I don't think that here in the south east will get the stongest winds so for those west and north, BE SAFE! It got me thinking back to the '87 storm. I would've been about 9 years old then, I remember waking up in the night to this roaring sound and crept in my parents room as I was quite scared. The scene the next morning was more than I could've imagined. Had I of known what was flying around outside I think I would've wet myself! We lost a few ridge tiles and they had embedded themselves on our front lawn. A shed from one of our neighbours had lifted up, crossed the road and landed, still intact, in another neighbours car. Trees were down eveywhere and our small village was cut off. It took over a week for the power to come back and one of friends that lived more remotely took over a month. My brother and I were delighted that there was no school and we helped our uncle re-tile his missing roof. I think I've still got the special paper that our local paper did. Maybe I should scan some of it and post it on net weather. Even after living the storm of '87 I still find strong winds exciting.
  10. Well here we go, first ever, ever blog entry. It's Tuesday the 14th of Nov and it's a rainy, grey mild day. Lunchtime at work and thought I would have a go at this blog thingy. Not quite sure where I'm going to go with this so I guess I will just see what happens, it will probably mean I will have a few goes and then cease due to lack of inspiration, but you never know. Looking forward to winter and the endless amounts of snow it will bring. Things aren't looking for that good for the near future but it is early days yet. My birthday is a the beginning of January so hopefully some white fluffly stuff then! Anyway thanks for reading and hope to catch upn soon! Pooksly
