  1. We've just had a brief snow shower (at last) which has left a very tiny covering on cars etc. The clouds are moving through very fast though, and I'm sure I've just seen a flash of lightning. I think there must be a big storm on the coast. Temperature has risen from -0.1c to +0.5c in minutes.
  2. Windy, soaked ground, clear skies. Current temperature is 2.9c, dropped from 3.3c when I got up half an hour ago. Not a sign of any snow, and checking the radar, no showers within hundreds of miles either. Damp squib. I really can't see heavy and prolonged snowfall materialising.
  3. Good idea Tim, then everybody can compare what the weather is doing, live as it happens.
  4. Sorry Highcliffe, getting a bit carried away there. Even as a 31 year old, I still love to watch the snow fall. You don't mind me posting about accumulations/temperature as the conditions worsen do you? Or is that for the current conditions forum? (I'm new to this)
  5. Its only a matter of time Batescy. If its snowing (albeit wet) in Aycliffe, then you should have it within the hour, as you're only down the road. I've just had a look on the Weather Underground at the temperature in Mowden. Its 2.7c, which is quite surprising. I have 1.7c and dropping. Normally Mowden is about 0.3c-0.5c warmer than my location.
  6. How long has it been going for? Looks like a good couple of centimetres already. Its only been precipitating in Newton Aycliffe for the past hour. Started off as rain but now temperatures are falling and its currently wet snow, but not lying.....yet.
  7. That webcam in Stanley shows the snow beautifully. As Stanley is about 25 miles north of me, but higher up to be fair, it gives me a taste of whats possibly coming. Is that Stanley, Consett, or Stanley, Crook, by the way?
  8. Now wet snow, temp dropped from 2.5c to 1.9c in 15 minutes COME OOOOONNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Currently sleeting in County Durham. Temperature 2.5c
  10. Thundery wintry showers, no I don't live over high ground. The temperature started to rise after I posted and topped out at 3.9c. Its now 3c, and the wind has really got up. Its always a little colder inland than it is in Newcastle on the coast, and a little warmer in summer.
  11. Current temperature just 1.6c Conditions light sleety rain. Looking good for tonight and tommorrow I reckon. The temperature has actually been DROPPING since 7am, not rising.
  12. Temp at 23.30 5.1c Temperatures slowly dropping after maximum today of 10.7c Conditions clear, windy Got a feeling there may be some snow deposited here over Sunday night, Monday morning (please)
  13. Maximum temperature In Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, today.... 4.4c Minimum last night.... 0.6c Foggy start, which lifted to leave a mostly cloudy day.
  14. Had a lot of rain and sleet showers here in North East England. One heavy shower turned to snow around lunchtime, and it was heavy enough to cause some snow to collect around my winscreen wipers on the car. Rain after that though.
