  4. Thanks Wibs, only asked as I took this photo today and would like to enter it. I was surprised to see one out so late in the year and am pleased with how the photo came out.
  5. Do photos have to be of weather or can they be any nature photos taken in October?

  11. Wow, since my last report just over 30 mins ago we have had another 7mm of rain, crossing the garden to check the gauge it was like a paddy field!
  12. Woken at 2:35am by a storm that looked like it had been around a while as there were very frequent lightning and the thunder shook the house (takes that to wake me!) fierce storm for about 35 minutes then it seemed more to the south and rumbled on until gone 4:00am. Curses one and half hours sleep lost but worth it though Checked rain gauge and 15mm rain overnight, not surprised as it was extremely heavy for quite a while even before I fell asleep again. Overnight minimum temp a very warm 15.3, currently 16.1C and very stormy looking clouds, still raining.
  13. I read somewhere that Jupiter acts as a 'sweeper' for earth, either swallowing up most large objects or diverting them, anyone know any more about this?
  14. 1mm rain and min temp of 14.6C overnight with heavy mist at 11:00pm currently 19.6C overcast with sun occasionally breaking through and very light breeze
  15. Just noticed this topic and find it very interesting. It's always a good thing the earth is where it is or perhaps a few on here would get more of a winter than they bargained for
  16. Can anyone tell me what is the relationship between the hole in the ozone layer and 'global warming'? I only ask because I read somewhere that the hole was repairing itself and wondered whether this would have any effect of the climate.
  17. Well they have to be right one day probably be in 20 years time though. Oh I would soooo love it to be true but I would rather coldest winter for 45 years

  23. I had a grape vine in the garden for years but finally cut it down as every year it suffered from mould, however I reckon this was more to do with the soil (brick earth) than humidity. On the south downs they flourish and Sussex vineyards produce some lovely wines as do vineyards in the Dorking area and in other Surrey vineyards. Certainly September has been an outstanding month with the sea temp still very warm down here, I was paddling a few days ago. However even today in a supposedly cooler spell the temp has been 17.6C and a lot of people are still wearing T shirts, me included so perhaps October will be warm too.
