  4. Heavy hail shower about 11pm in Hanley last night. Was forced to stay in pub a bit longer! Crunchy/slippery underfoot definitely hail.
  5. At least 2 papers (not just the usual suspect) have carried this `coldest for 100 years, -20c' story today. What is the source(s)? Ian
  6. Just had 10 minute monsoon at Keele. Very dark sky torrential rain no thunder. At work facing away from window. Bah! Ian

Nice little cell has morphed into a thunderstorm to the SW of Stoke in the NW Midlands...not heading this way sadly, but nice to see something happen in the west (north west) midland Developed into 40 minute thunderstorm in Stoke 7 40 to 8 20pm. Shame I was on a history walk at the time-soaking muddy streams running down hill etc
  8. Greetings from UK's wettest place yesterday. What clinched it was the narrow band in the evening after the main large area affecting rain -had a couple of downpours around 7pm & 9pm. What caused that? Ian Oliver Keele University
