  1. Was a good night with the skies last night. How dark are the skies where you are?
  2. Hmm interesting, his prediction wasnt far off.... http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/usc000c7yw#summary
  3. My little one has been a bit more grouchy then usual the last few days thinking about it.
  4. I was up Pen-Y-Fan in January this year and seen several then in the late afternoon. The temp was probably around -8 that day. Have tried to upload a picture I took but I'm having some problems with it
  5. Which radar u looking at? Seems to be intensifying ever so slightly. It'll be over Glos?/Bristol area around 2am at its current rate
  6. Just a quick question for anyone living in or near the Brecons. Whats the snow cover like up there? I'm planning on going up Pen Y Fan on Sunday and want to make sure that I can get there on the roads safely and get some good phot opportunites. Many Thanks
  7. A little  , but now I've read through a few websites and books I'm starting to understand it all better now. You have to really think hard to take it in though
  8. My thinking on time (from a totally amateur viewpoint) is that its just a form of measure used by humans. The universe doesn't 'know' what time is does it? I did start reading A Briefer History of time a few months ago then just stopped for some reason. I'll have to dust it off and start again methinks.
  9. What are Mr. Roo's views on the following? 1) what collided to cause the Big-bang if there was no matter, atoms, elements etc before it?
  10. On one of those LHC videos a scientist mentions that the particle(s) produced from this will only last around a billionth of a billionth of a sec. Now i'm not saying he's wrong but ; 1) how can you possibly measure that sort of time? 2) how do you detect a particle which lasts that short a time? It's utterly fascinating.
  11. I was sat watching TV about 1 and sounded like it was blowing a gale outside for about a minute. would that have been it?
  12. I know this isn't going to generate a stimulating scientific debate but this so stupid - The Earth is growing?
