  1. Hampshire breaks up tomorrow too for Half Term not sure when they break their turm
  2. Makes for an interesting read - apologies if it has already been picked up on this site http://www.monbiot.com/2012/01/02/polar-opposites/
  3. That's weird it used to be in my Avatar info - Basingstoke - here you go.
  4. Not sure if anyone else posted this but we've had heavy snow for about an hour or so here - it's amazing - settled everywhere - I'll try for some pics
  5. Busy watching CSI, glanced out of the window - moderate snow here in Basingstoke - getting heavier
  6. Heavy snow here in Basingstoke - I thought we weren't getting any today but it's really coming down
  7. It's certainly not that now - big fat flakes and getting heavier
  8. Beautiful blue sky, wind has picked up considerably here, looking dark to the East
  9. What a lovely morning in Basingstoke. Best sound in the world was when the two grandchildren phoned (aged 2 and 3) at 7.30am - they've never seen snow like this before and all I could here was "WOW".
  10. Torrential rain and very windy around 30MPH not sure what the gusts are

  12. Funnily enough I was thinking about this today. I recall on this site a year or two ago that someone said 2007 was being speculated as an overdue extremely snowy event during the winter. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  13. Scratch that distant rumble - torrential rain, storm almost overhead, lots of lightning - I love this.
  14. Just heard a distant rumble here - been very warm and sticky today. Breeze blown up in the last 5 mins. and some rather large spots now falling. Blimey - quick edit - Thunder rolling in very, very fast and getting more powerful no lightning witnessed yet.
  15. 2 inches here in Basingstoke - awoke at 4 and there was already covering - still snowing now
  16. Some lovely moments that are captured Here's mine Steve De4 3 Tuggy 1 Leekay 1 FWW 3 potsy 1
  17. Had a reasonable storm this morning at 1.30 - rained very hard, enough for the ground to still be wet at 8am this morning, with clear blue skies and sunshine. Humidity been building all day (as has the cloud), currently very, very overcast and the air is so thick it feels hard to breathe. It's very still and I wish something would happen to break the air.
  18. Cats hate Lemon Balm - the only problem is that it is highly vigorous and will potentially take over, has a wonderful aroma when you stroke the leaves and yields tiny white flower in the summer. Needs to be cut back during the autumn and thinned out during the spring. OR Lavender - positive side is that it attracts both butterflies and bees and is a wonderful cottage garden plant with a lovely aroma - downside, once established they become quite woody and cutting back just isn't enough - I usually remove and replace mine every 2-3 years.
