And 'my' Swifts have just arrived too - bless them :-)
They're screeching round and having a look under the roof tiles,
but the starlings have to finish their nests there first !
As others have said, such a wonderful sound of Summer (to come)
Cheers,

Difficult choice but I opted for the wonderful pic by Essan :-)
(I can't see two of them despite the helpful hints, but of
course know them from the original line-up.)

Hi all :-)
I was mightily surprised to have my friendly resident hen
blackbird .. ('Mrs Halfbird' .. a Sparrowhawk almost had her last
summer and she lost half her plummage ! ) .. coming to me for
scraps and loading them up for her chicks ! I see her mate is doing his
bit too tonight. This seems v. early in the season for oop north
here and after such a cold March. Bless her, hope she's successful ;-)

Thanks Beverley Lass Super photos and a great memory as well as your moment of fame. Sadly I didn't have a camera then (didn't have two hap'nys either but that's a different story ) so thanks for sharing them here.
You will get the occasional aurora visible from Yorkshire so keep a watch in the Space Science and Nature sticky header for any alerts and look for a dark sky location near you with a good view to the north with no light pollution. They can be fickle but they do happen.
NCs on the other hand - well at least I can say I've seen them once!
Thanks Frogesque :-)
Sorry you didn't have the pennies for a camera back then, but you're making
up for it now with many super shots ;-)
I've just had the most wonderful browse over at the thread you recommended
and see you've been lucky enough to both witness and photo some aurora ! :-)
I'll look out for alerts and pray I never miss such an awesome sight.
Wow !!!

16th. February, 1996
It was a Friday and I'd had hard day at work and just wanted to get home. Stepping outside into the freezing cold February air I stopped dead in my tracks as I looked at the slowly waving opalescence of nacreous clouds visible high to the north and east. I then sat in the car-park for an hour or so 'till well after sunset, mesmerised by this beautifull and rare phenomena unable to tear myself away.
They were widely seen over Scotland and the North of England so does anyone else have memories of this or other events.
Edit:
Nacreaous clouds were also seen on 30th November 1999 but somehow I missed them (I would have been in Nothern Ireland at the time)
Hi :-)
Well that's Spooky !
I scanned two pics of Nacreous Clouds yesterday to share and wasn't sure where
to include them, and there's your post on the topic ! lol
What a wonderful sight it was and we enjoyed it for about 20 mins, like opal
in the sky :-)
We had a meteorological moment of fame back in Feb. 1997 when the BBC 'Weather
Show' with Isobel Lang featured our two photo's ;-)
I believe this may be a once in a lifetime sighting .
Now my burning ambition is to see the Northern Lights ! lol
Cheers,

Hi again :-)
Thought I'd add another pic before the close of play for Dec. now the
snow has hit E. Yorks. (entered a Sunrise one previously)
This is one from yesterday, 30.12.05 of the old canal here freezing over.
I must say the other photo entries are just wonderful ! Stunning skies,
wintry scenes and I love the arty close-up pics v.much :-)
In all the months I've lurked on NW, I've only recently found this section
and I'll be a regular now I'm sure :-) lol.
Cheers

Aww, many thanks Frogesque
I'm not at all 'techy' with comps and board contributions but I'll enjoy
having a go here and there now I've braved a start, lol. I do have a few
interesting local weather pics to share I think.

Enjoying all the super other entries folks.
I've just had a smashing holiday week in the Wye Valley area
of Herefordshire and took something like 150 pics !
I'll try 2 from that which seem to be the most suitable, and
some local wildlife, awww, lol.
Cheers,
Beverley Lass
