Very strange outside my office here in Central Belt, Scotland... eerie sky colour due to Saharan dust and fast moving clouds going opposite directions.
Hope this can be seen in this video clip... Yet the trees are hardly moving..

Here. Here bigsnow.. Was in George sq today.. Fortunately I had left the scene around 2.20 and walked along the road that the lorry mounted the pavement.. Puts things into perspective when you consider the amount of petty squabbles recently in here.. There are more things to life than computer models...Mean while in the real world away from the MOD... A tragic accident has cost 6 lives in Glasgow. yes this is off topic but a timely reminder of just how unimportant the weather really is in our lives... R.I.P TO THEM AND PRAYERS FOR THE ONES THEY HAVE LEFT BEHIND...
Thought with families and the emergency services and ultimately the glasgow people who again demonstrated respect, calmness and helping others while risking their own life.....
Perspective folks... Perspective...

Hey... Breaking news... Santa seen the latest Charts for Xmas...
A man dressed in a Santa suit has been fined for climbing up Glasgow's cone-topped Wellington statue.
Police said the 51-year-old had been given a fixed-penalty ticket following the stunt at the iconic statue in Royal Exchange Square.
He scaled the statue and waved to passers-by, until fire crews arrivedwith a ladder and took him down.
The Santa was last seen entering a police van as the gathered crowd shouted: "Free Santa".
A police spokeswoman was keen to stress the man who was fined was not the real Santa. However, the man was not named by police.....
Seemed he decided to tell passers by of the `Cold Spell`,,,, lol

Morning All...
Dont post much as I am not as experienced as the vast majortiy in here. Have been reading and `lurking` on this forum for a few years now. Hats off to you all knowlegeable posters however with this mornings output in particular there are conflicting issues with regards to the placement of the Azores high and its ramifactions for us in the UK... for eaxmple..
Not a good outlook next week if looking to develop any real cold away from the far north.
The models all show a trend to build the Azores high towards Iberia/W.France which will mean a warmer Atlantic flow for us.
Any cold pm incursions look more confined to the far north of the UK and likely to be fairly brief.
then the next post from NS
Looking at the ECM ensemble spreads, still some solutions that take low heights se into mainland Europe with the Azores high displaced further to the west.
Contradicting posts. As an avid follower and appreciate everyones valued input, I do find however that these kind of statements are very confusing for the more `inexperienced` and newbies like myself who are constantly trying to learn and interpret charts etc....
Very confusing......

Hi All
Been around for a few years lurking shall we say..... I have to say that this forum is excellent with the members susch as Steve M, Nick S, Chronio TEITS etc.. giving their individual time to put out their ideas and general understanding of the models and possible outcomes of same. Apologies if i have missed anyone out there a few i know...
Anyway i have always been led to believe that the around 3rd week in January historically is when we are susceptible to a `snowy` spell. With the current outlook across the models, for us to a lasting spell of the `snowy stuff` is always at least a few days away at best and never getting closer.. I hav ealso noticed that theconstant displacement of the PV is causing mayhem of the models... DO you think that this id down to the fact the fact the the sea ice around the pole this year had an effect and also affecting the `models` output today...
Anyway enough of my rambling .. I hope it makes sense what I have just posted.....
best Regards
Martin

Katla - Iceland.
`Ford Cochran says that the 500 or so tremors in and around the caldera of Katla just in the last month suggest "an eruption may be imminent`
Hi, folks.. if this were to come off they reckon that it would be a biggy`... if so would the ash plume, smoke etc have any effect on the PV or stratospheric conditions... and a as consequence alter the GFS, ECM and UKMO outputs...
Just a thought and would welcome some views please on this. If this is the wrong thread then apologies from me..
