  1. Unfortunatly I drive. My work is 6 miles away and my youngest goes to school 5 miles away, so have to leave home at 7.30 to get her to child minder next to her school for 7.45am, to be in work for 8am. Tried the bus route once and it took me an hour and a half, a lot of stress and was exhausted before the day even began. So my half hour in my car is more stress free for me and my daughter! Downside is I'm not as fit as I used to be when I lived closer. Geri

  16. Sorry to go off topic, morning all by the way But does anyone know why that happened? It scared the crap out of me here in the early hours. 2 of my shed windows are broken and there are a few slates and wheelie bins (full ones) scattered around my street.
  17. My husband spoke to one of his clients last night, he was worried about her and her husband as they are pensioners. They live on the same road as the house that had the side ripped off. Last week they had a flood so were recovering from that and they were in the house with 2 workmen when the tornado struck. A tile came flying through the kitchen window and embedded itself in a wall in the kitchen, just missing her husband! She was still laughing though bless her, she said to my husband 'well it could be worse'. It was her birthday too and she was being spoiled rotten. I said to her she is famous now, being on the news and in the papers! She said well it's taken 76 years to get a bit of recognition, but she is very excited about all the fuss over her. She made us feel quite humble! Geri
  18. I know the building, but, there are no trees in bloom like that around. Most of the trees are either bare or only a few leaves on them! Had another look around earlier this evening, most of the roads are opened again down there, but couldn't really see much in the dark. A section of Chamberlayne Road is still closed but they have shortened that now. Can't believe the amount of TV crews that are still there with their vans with satellite dishes that are flippin massive. One van had a device on it that I presume was an antenna, but it looked like a massive drill bit on top of the van, I'd say it was about 10 feet long. Don't know what they are waiting for, maybe they think it is coming back!
  19. woo hoo I finally got on here! Been trying to get on since yesterday. I have to say that storm yesterday was the scariest thing I have ever seen! The tornado happened about 5 mins walk away from me at work. The kids were all in assembly yesterday morning at about 10:50am and were just about to go out to playground from the hall when there was an almight bang. The kids got all excited, so we declared a wet play when we seen a flash of lightning. I was in the classroom and the sky just went completely black, the windows were opened and the only way I can describe the noise was like a rushing sound. More bolts of lightning and thunder hail and rain. The wind picked up and was throwing leaves and bins around but nothing to major. It was the noise that was the scary thing! <_< There is a secondary school down the road from ours St Augustines, which had there roof blown off! The kids were sent home and it is still closed today. That school is in Kilburn Park, which is about 10 mins walk away from Kensal Rise. My school where I work is in the middle of St Augustines and Kensal Rise. If it had hit my school it would have knocked it down like a deck of cards, cos the place is falling apart! Anyway that was my excitement, was going mad cos I couldn't get on here last night to tell anyone. Geri p.s went down to have a look this morning on way to work, couldnt really see a lot because of cordons.
