  1. Never thought of that! Great idea. Thanks John. Regards, Loraine
  2. Thanks for that, sounds really interesting (especially the interactive displays), but you're right, it's a bit too far away.
  3. Anyone got any ideas where I can take thirty 8-9 year olds on a school trip, dealing with weather, climate and/or environment. We've already done the Science museum. Help! Thanks, Loraine.
  4. -1.4 at the moment, and tiny white flakes floasting around (drizzle?). Don't remember it being this cold on yesterdays forecast! Anyway if it means we hang onto this cold spell for a little while longer, it's alright with me!
  5. All great ideas! I kept thinking about all the information being provided, and it just sitting there. All of these ideas would put it to good use, and make the thread even more interesting for the user. Judging by Pauls comment, (unless i've misinterpreted it) I think the team might have something already in the pipeline. Thanks Marcus.
  6. I don't know what you guys think of this idea, but I thought it might be interesting and a bit of fun! I sometimes go onto the general weather chat thread to read and occasionally post. What I have noticed, is that there is alot of information on there from members, on temps, humidity, pressure, and general weather description. I wondered if we could have a continually updated 'working wall', a map of the British Isles where that information can be put on, and clicked onto for members to see what the weather is doing all over the country at any given time. I know we read this information when looking at the posts, but it would be nice to see it on the screen. I also wondered if we could compare our collective information (weekly?) with the Met O's and see how we come out against them. I don't know how possible this would be for you to do, and I hope others might find it a good idea to use all that information. Has anyone else got any other ideas ? Happy New Year everyone! Loraine x Oh by the way, I might have jumped the gun here, as there are areas of Net-Weather that I don't access, so sorry if this is already being done in some other part of the Forum.
  7. currently -3.4c, and dropping! I'm hoping I'll get a little snow tomorrow, although Teits has just said that by the time it gets to the London area, it's likely to fizzle out, I hope not and for the first time hope he's wrong! Night all!
  8. I love Dan! Although he's quirky, he still knows his stuff, as does Rob. I really like it when Rob finishes his forecasts with a cliffhanger......'or will it?' Makes me laugh every time.
  9. Looking at the way things appear to be going, mines 2.1c
  10. Can't stay up any longer, just checked temp dropped slightly, now -2.8. Night all.
  11. well it's -2.6c at the moment, once again colder than this time last night. Very frosty, and no cloud cover. Am going to sit up for about another hour then take another reading before bed.
  12. Temp -0.1 and falling, little or no cloud cover. Already colder here then lqst night. Just the snow missing. Night all.
  13. 1.9c at the moment with a little cloud cover. I suspect it's going to get alot colder though, maybe some fog patches.
  14. I thought I would just pop onto this thread before going to bed (Model thread stressful.) Plenty of cloud cover at the moment, only 2.2c so might not get a frost this evening. Just seen latest BBC weather forecast, and those darker blues are creeping closer and closer, so I expect night time frosts are going to be a permanent fixture for the next week (or two?). Night all.
  15. ,Have just got back from Nashville, and was privileged to have seen an amazing thunderstorm. Lots of lightening and terrific claps of thunder. Very heavy rain and wind gusts of 45mph. I must admit I was really taken back by the ferocity of the storm (especially as I have only witnessed u.k. ones.) It did get a little bit scary at one point, as a severe weather warning came up on the t.v. for our area (I was staying in a town called Gallatin which had been hit by a tornado two years ago.) My sister-in-law then had to get her weather radio out, which emits a loud beeping sound if a tornado has been sighted in the area. Believe me the reality of the situation really sunk in when I was shown where we had to go if the alarm went off.(her walk-in wardrobe in the centre of the house.) Oaklahoma had been badly hit the day before, and so I couldn't help but feel a little anxious. Great storm though, one that I won't be forgetting for a while.
  16. I'm going to stick my neck out and say that we will have snow at Easter, there I've said it! This is not through any model watching etc, I'm just a weather enthusiast, but about 2 weeks ago, on a model discussion thread (when these charts first started popping up), I said that I was a great believer in sods law. Why you ask? Well I haven't seen a flake of snow all winter, and next week I fly off to the States. I can guess what's going to happen, It's going to SNOW! Someone take some pictures for me.
  17. I'm going for 3.9. There's some chat on model output, about the beginning of March being a bit special. I know it's a long way off, but I'm really hoping Winter might finally deliver something special (especially for us Southerners).
  18. Have just read these two quotes:- A Met Office spokesman said:"We are still five weeks away from the end of the year, but the general trends are for a milder than average winter in the first part of the season which will be followed by a series of cold snaps later in the Winter, in January and February next year." Then another quote by Jim Dale, a senior risk meteorologist at British Weather Services, said: "Next year particularly in late January to early February, we are looking at a severe prolonged cold snap that will probably last a while and we will probably see some snow." Some agreement there, but I must say the word 'probably' doesn't fill me with confidence, although it has given me hope, that in the not too distant future all this mild, wet weather can be pushed out of the way and be replaced with something colder! I have just got to get through the next month of 'nothingness', some frosty mornings would help! Regards Loraine.
