  1. morning all,

Surprised to see -5 (-4.8 actually) in Westcliff this morning, the car was claiming -6, there was also a widespread frost in Central London when I got here at 7am, but the sun salt and building warmth are already getting to work dispersing it.

Fingers crossed for later (if you like snow), I am a bit torn as I have to get to, and then fly from, Gatwick tomorrow evening, it could be an interesting couple of days, or not.......  the joys of the British weather

    Cheers

  2. evening all,

Well that was an interesting drive back from Basingstoke to Southend, started off at 3 degrees and wet snow, by the time I reached Fleet services it was 5 degrees and rain, pulled off for fuel, by the time I was back on the M3 it was 3 degrees and wet snow. At the M25 it was back up to 5 and rain, because of congestion on the M25 pulled off a Cobham services for food, by the time I rejoined the motorway, you guessed it, wet snow again until the M23, then rain all the rest of the way back to Southend. I was doing my best to pull the snow eastwards, but I am not sure if it will make it.

  3. Morning All,

Blooming chilly at 5:30 this morning, -4 in Southend, lots of ice scraping, before being able to drive, then the windscreen froze on the inside as I had the audacity to try and breath, stopped and scraped the inside of the window, before proceeding again. Almost missed my train, which predictably did not have any heating on.

Lets see what weather mother nature will bring for us this week...

    Cheers

  4. hi All,

Just woke from my slumbers and had a peek outside and I don't believe it we have a dusting of snow here in Southend

EDIT...   haha that will teach me, opened the window to take a proper look and grab a photo only to discover clear skies above and it is just a very heavy frost..

  5. Afternoon All,

I have not really been on here for about 2 years as I have been working in Germany, near Munich ironically, where I did not see that much in the way of snow over that period, look at it now!

Anyway I am back in the UK for the next 9 moths at least so looking forward to some good old British weather, what ever that may mean these days.

It is still feeling pretty mild in and around Southend, so I have not really needed a coat on the walk to the train station just yet.

    Cheers

  6. Morning all, and Happy New Year...

What a dull and dreary, and extremely wet month December was down here in SW France. Finally since Christmas it has stopped raining for a few days as the high pressure over western Europe has established it self and it is starting to cool down.  It has meant that we have had a few glimpses of the sun in recent days, and I have noticed there is a touch of frost on my car this morning.

All in all 2018 was a fantastic year for good weather in this region, which the vine owners are really happy about following 3 poor years (for Cognac at least - which is local to me)

    Cheers all, from the Charente

  7. Afternoon all,

A visit to the UK for me today, it is a hell of a lot warmer in Westcliff than in Munich.... my little weather station appears to have peaked at 35.2C external temps and 28.1C internal temparature, all I know is, it is bloomin hot in Westcliff on Sea.  I think it is reading a bit high but I am sweating buckets here and trying to work at the same time.  Off to Gatwick later to fly down to Bordeaux, it could be an interesting trip.

Keep cool and stay safe one and all...

    Cheers

  8. Morning all,

Some intense stormy weather around the Charente over the last couple of days, continous thunder and lightening for 2 hours at a time.  So far in our area we have not had the intense winds and destructive hailstones that many other areas have had a bit further south.

I am hoping it will all calm down shortly, it is playing havoc with my work program

    Cheers

  9. Afternoon all,

It has been a poor start to the year here in SW France, normally by March the sun puts in more than a fleeting visit, but nothing this year, luckily over the next day or so some warmer sunny weather is due to put in an appearance, but still the threat of cool April showers almost every day, and a fair amount of hail in them too..

    Roll on the summer :-)

    Cheers

  10. morning all,

I see we are all back together again, I have been away for the weekend, and the contrast between the -3 degrees and heavy snow at Gatwick as I left on Friday evening, compared to the 17 degrees and blazing sunshine in SW France was amazing.

Still back to reality and dull Monday morning, and a water shortage!

lets have some 'normal' weather for a bit, looking forward to spring.

    Cheers
