looks like the cold front has well and truely set in here in the north east temp still on 13.4c, with the dew point on 12.2c. humidity has now reached 93%and the pressure is still falling , now on 994.3hpa , rain for the day so far has now reached 7.2mm this has fallen since 0930hrs. nigel

morning everyone Is been raining from about 0930, it hasnt stopped yet , since 1030 we have acuumulated 2mm of rain and and its still raining , sky is very grey and dull , hardly any wind , just a mere breeze of 1.5mph from the south west, current temp is a lousy 13.4c with the pressure 999.6hpa lowest its been for quite some time nigel

Morning Stratos Ferric Thankyou for that information ,i think i understand now ,so if their is ie high pressure over iceland if im not mistaken the winds would be virtually approaching from the north East or from the north- East part of the compass ,and if there is a a high over the azores the winds approaching from the south - West part of the compass Think i have that the right way round , thankyou again you have been very helpful nigel

Morning Guys and Gals I apologise if this is in the wrong thread but i need a bit of help ,[ and this is a tough subjet to learn] question is im trying to learn and understand Teleconnections , {and is it possible and if so How] can we predict Temperatures for the Uk just by looking at the PNA and the NAO , Looking at the Latest forecast for the NAO its showing that it will be on the positive side prob from around mid september , now leading up to that it is on the Negative side ,How can we gain temperature readings from this at hope ive made some sense Nigel

I apologise if this is in the wrong thread ,but i couldnt find or wasnt sure where to put this one please forgive me ;;;; anyway just been checking a few stats i have for the north east which i have gathered ,from now 2006 going back to 2001 when i moved up here the stats are my own recordings ,the previous years stats from 2001 to 1997 are from what i have gathered after doing a bit of research anyway from what i can see with these stats so far ,this year [first 7months january- end of July] has seen the second coldest start for the north east in 10 years , 2006= 7.96 so far 2005= 8.17c 2004= 8.67c 2003= 8.57c 2002= 8.89c 2001= 6.89c 2000= no data 1999= no data 1998= 8.42c 1997= 8.72c These are averages for Jan- End of July. 7months Has you can see this year is the second coolest year since 1997 which the average has been under 8c , the coolest year was back in 2001 where we saw an average temp of just 6.89c for the first 7 mths Again i apologise if i have put this in the wrong thread, if i have could someone please tell me where i can post this type of data so i dont upset anyone for posting in the wrong thread stormchaser1
