  1. spare a thought for those up in the NE, local rainfall accumulations of over 120mm in the past 12 hours!, and my area has has up to 20mm in the past 12 hours, so TBH we've had our fair share of rain, unfortunatley minus the storms

I have recorded 44.5mm here in Gosforth , which is about 6 mile east from The airport and about 3 mile NW from the city

Further North around Morpeth have been hit bad again , and further south around Durham

Flooding virtually everywhere in the North East, roads closed rivers ready to burst their banks, if they havent already Believe me its a nightmare out there

  2. Evening Everyone

No thunder heard today so far anyway.

However Since 0400hr this morning i have recorded a whopping 44.0mm rain , This has got to be one of the most accumulated rain fall i have recorded in one day since i moved here 9 years ago.

Lots of roads closed around the North East due to flooding, and its still raining , believe me its a nightmare out there

  3. I am not looking forward to today one bit, Rain has started already . 1.5mm in the last hour, according to the charts up to 50mm could be expected for the North East today!, already recorded 75.6mm so far this month which is well above average, and we have only had 16 days so far!

No Thunder as of yet, but that will arrive, just like the wind

  4. OMG

Looks like i might have to get my canoe out and Waders for tomorrow morning, i can see alot of flooding around the North East tomorrow

I have already recorded 71.4mm this month so far after 16 days, looks like i could go into triple figures by tomorrow night

Wettest month so far this year

  5. Well after a glorious morning, the heavens opened , and boy did they open, around !515hrs this afternoon we had torrential rain, and en a clap of thunder, and lightning. When i arrived home in Gosforth, i checked my rain gauge and i had recorded 12.5mm rain in between 1515 and now, Roads are flooded all over the North East, and it looks as though we are going to get worse tomorrow morning

  6. Not much happening in the North East now, looks like the Met Office warning only for Northumberland was a good call, that's the only part of the North East to have had a decent storm today from what I can tell.

They have also added the risk of thunder to their forecast for this area tomorrow, but the risk looks lower than today so I won't build my hopes up.

Nothing materializedd again today , thats 3 days where the charts have suggested some decent cape for the North East and nothing has happened, we did have a shower earlier , but nothing exciting, oh well back to the drawing board!

    Mark

i had a text message last night , from one of my mates who said there was lightning seen in Dipton

  7. Lets hope this produces the storms

    post-4475-1247631956_thumb.png

Cape charts this week have suggested storms possible {monday and Tuesday just gone} however no Thunder heard or no lightning seen, Had reports of Lightning in a place called Dipton last night

    More rain fell last night/ this morning bringing the total to 58.5mm so far {already this month}

June and July have been the wettest months so far this year for the North East

  8. Coupled up again. Had only a few claps of thunder 6.15 -- 40pm, mostly just to the west of here. An hour's steady rain though. Very light now.

    Evening Rainy

Send it East across the Pennines lol

saying that we do have rain , but thats all at the moment , 3.1mm in the last hr

  9. Well i am a bit dissapointed to say the lease, after seeing the charts and skew charts this morning i expected more than a a few showers which lasted for about 5mins if that, Skew charts projected CAPE of 900 for my region today , The other week we only had CAPE of around 500 and we had a terrific storm

    Oh well suppose there is still time for something to develop but i cant see it happening now{we will see}

  10. Great pictures, looks very intense i must say, it's raining heavily here now but not as heavy as that. Thanks for the upload mate. Did you manage to get any pictures of lightning?

    lewis

With all that rain there was no way i was getting out of the car, there was quite a bit of lightning too, but in the end i could barely see out of the car window , May be next time

  11. Not scrolled back yet

Just got in from work and boy what a active afternoon we have had today> Started kicking off around 1250 this afternoon, lasted until around 1410hrs. In that period i counted around 15 loud rumbles of thunder, at its peak i was counting a rumble every 3 minutes, then itn started raining , ive never seen rain like that before, it was like a monsoon, torrential rain at times, Ive gust got back home from work , and my weather station recorded 16.6mm rain in that period,

Looks like it could kick off again

  12. Just shows how localised these events can be-I don't suppose we are more than 7 miles apart, yesterday we certainly had a deluge at around 5-30 but I heard no thunder whatsoever.

    Evening Rollo

We never had any thunder here, but i went out , i was virtually on the back end of a storm going up the coast, i went the A19 then the A189 to Blyth, there was alot of surface water on the A189 ,

Never got any shots of any lightning, but heard the thunder

    im back home now,
