The 18z has just got back from the pub, then.
-
If we get 10cm I'll be very happy I think the most Northampton has received in recent times was about 5/6 inches last year.
-
Michael fish forecast not looking very promising, mind you was done before 12Z's, seems like less cold in the west from Sat pm, and next week
Yeah his forecast is actually based on before any models that came out this morning, and we all know that things have changed there (front stalls, snow for West Midlands etc).

Snow Freak - We will probably know by tomorrow evening for sure at the earliest, but it's looking like we'll be hit fairly hard as it stands

Snow does not leave the Mids for about 4 days
I love the fact that on Tuesday another front joins in on the fun

Having just looked at the GFS 12z Precip charts....I really dont know what to say.
Stunned.
Link?

With cov just being east of birmingham can we expect a good dumping??
Current output suggests yes
PS Ohhh I do love that word:

Half the country must be on the METO site aarrrghh it wont load the warnings for me
I think the Hamsters are going into overdrive on their Servers. More Hamsters needed!

The Northamptonshire and Staffordshire snow shield gets turned on for Saturday...

Amazing. That green square is exactly the same size/length of Northamptonshire. You couldn't make it up!
-
Lets hope it stalls over NN2
That would be perfect as I work over that direction! If you can spare any for NN7 then I wouldn't mind
-
So far so good for most of us, let's hope the front stalls over Northamptonshire somewhere
-
We'll get our turn at the weekend dude
-
Looks to be a Wash Streamer currently going straight for the East Midlands http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
-
Would certainly be very nice to wake up to a few inches on Sunday morning, seeing as the Midlands usually need a front system to see decent snow
-
How generous of you, thank you very much! That's made it a lot clearer, though I guess we will see what happens closer to the time. Cheers.

the 06z GFS paints a fairly dry but cold picture in the reliable time frame, but to my eye there's interest on wednesday as a kink in the isobar patterns suggest a trough developing in the easterly flow, this has wash streamer written all over it IMO, good for leicester/derby/brum/stafford...to the south, dry...to the north, dry.......A word of caution though, it's easy to get swept along with the ramping that goes with some of the posts in the MOD, which origin from the same posters that say any 06z output on a daily basis is unreliable and should be disregarded
aj do you have the 06z GFS at hand? I'm wondering what angle this potential streamer will come in at, with Northampton being in a possible firing line (we can wish!)

Wow haven't seen flakes this big in a long time! Shame the ground is too wet for it to stick.
-
Ditto just up the road from you.
Wasn't really expecting it, but It's bloody cold out! Wouldn't be surprised if it's our only snow of the winter if the models keep on changing their minds!
-
Just had some big flakes of wet snow falling in West Northamptonshire!
-
That's a shame, considering you're not too far from us.
Actually just had another 5 minute shower, snowflakes about the size of 50p pieces!
-
Woke up about 5am this morning and took a quick peek outside - saw heavy snow with nice chunky flakes. Got out of bed and the snow has just stopped. Probably 2-3cm on the ground
-
Very light snow here here nr Luton Airport. I have a gut feeling we are going to get more than we bargined for tonight/tom morn. Could be an interesting slide up the A6 to Bedford for work at 7 tomorrow!!
Not sure if I have had enough now or want more!!
Already? Wow. Radar says it is about to hit Swindon haha!
-
Latest BBC forecast based on the NAE looks pretty decent actually. NMM is still crap for here though so I'm cautious.
Might get an inch or so if we're lucky.
Yeah if we're lucky!

Just went outside, all the slush has basically turned to ice, so if any snow comes down it should settle fairly rapid. If it heads our way, that is.
