  1. Them purple colours in Fleetwood / Blackpool look to be heading our way and now some blue's

just hop it stays as snow though

still coming down really well at the moment and the wind seems to have picked up also.

Do you think theres a possibility of it not being snow? Still showing as 0 degrees here and pressure of 1021 so I'm hoping snow all the way. Fingers crossed

  2. that chart looks great. started my holidays today so got all week to enjoy anything it can throw at us. lets hope today and next week makes up for such a mild winter so far

says that for hull as well. do netweather use the gfs charts for there snow forecast. if there do this could explain the low percentage

It is only showing me as 37% and I am in Leeds. The forecast on net weather shows me as sleet at best which seems a little strange from what the BBC is showing. Guess I have to wait and see :-)

  3. We're in the 'gap' at the moment. I'm not going out to check my thermometer but at Buxton it's been a steady -0.7°C since about 1800 although the DP has been slowly rising, now up to -3.9° from about -8.0° this afternoon.

Guesstimate of accumulation since 1645 is 2cm. More to come according to the radar but the big question is will it turn to rain before dawn ? Hopefully the back edge will clear before it does.

Guesstimate for me is eeeerrr a few big wet puddles does that count lol

All around and yet still so far away :wallbash:

Turning to rain at all levels from 2-3am onwards mate with only the NW staying onto reasonable dew points, isotherm etc.. And northern most parts of Yorkshire.

I think it is a case of wait and see, NAE shows snow throughout and so does the BBC graphics. I do think it will turn sleety for a time or perhaps a little rain before clearing. Meto put us in a "be prepared warning" for Wednesday with sever disruption expected and I doubt they would do it if it rains at 2am on wards. I'm guessing you are basing this on the GFS which I don't think is very good.

Such apposing views!!!! will be interesting to see what happens

  5. Be Prepared issued now on met office for next few hours

Sleet and snow will become heavier as it spreads northwards tonight, gradually dying out during the first part of Wednesday morning. Temporary accumulations of 2 to 5 cms of snow are expected locally at low levels, with accumulations of as much as 10 cms above 200 metres.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

  6. Well, well. So the low goes further SW, then decides to swing back in bringing milder conditions in FI?!

It almost does a complete loop of the UK!!

I have been watching the model chat for some time and I am confused :yahoo: It seems that as soon as it becomes within a relaible time frame "Nailed On" the chat stops when it would be relaible data and moves to chatting about the weather further ahead again. This then arrives into the "Nailed on timeframe" and away we go into the future again. Do members only read the charts for "prediction" ahead and stop when it is more certain?

I can kinda understand why the newbies would think that NW always get it wrong when the chat is always about the future, which will change and is usually nothing like the predictions when it arrives.

Not having a go guys, I am fasinated by the skill on here to read the charts, just confused why it stops when its within a solid reliable timeframe. :cold:

  7. Thank you John for taking the time to do this, it really helps the learning process to see what information you used to make your forcast. I just wanted to ask if you had time would it be possible for you to provide the same for just Thursday/Friday when it is in a more reliable time frame? I want to print both sets out to study and see if I can see the changes and understand what caused the changes.

I have been following NW for years now and may never be able to read the charts but I want to keep trying, one day it may make sence :pardon:

    Cheers

  8. Hey guys, how is everyone.

Aint it weird how certain members from the Leeds area :) no names mentioned are no where to be seen when there's no snow involved haha, not exactly proper weather fanastics then.

Cold continuing for many, especially if you live on higher ground.

When the next batch comes, who knows. But below average temps for the for-seeable future, chance of a warm up by this weekend especially Sunday.

Hope you guy's keep your snow cover :) I'll do my best to get on the forums as often as possible, but i have a very busy week regarding business.

    Speak soon

    Leeds still here Lewis lol

  9. The latest GFS looks amazing for us for tomorrow, for some areas the snow will start of at 9am on Sunday Morning, lasting all the way till Monday night/ Tuesday morning, that could be 18-48 hours of snowfall! For eastern areas it could be marginal but these kind of situations can bring surprises.

It looks like 20-30 cm of snow could fall in some places, leading to depths of over 60cm! (I wonder who forecast 50cmwhistling.gif )

Now that would be exciting :) Do you mean some places in yorkshire starting by 9am? (Leeds)
