  1. We've got torrential nothing at the moment , not even a subzero temp 0.5c :D

Just dropped my girlfriend offin the town centre and there was very light snow falling. Typically, it was light rain by the time I reached Appley Bridge.

Had a 'moment' on a patch of black ice outside Rhodes Peugeot, so it must be colder there than it is here. Currently 2.4c and dp 2.1c

  2. Well earlier today when I went for a walk it was still looking white, not sure if that was from before christmas or topped up today. Unfortunately, I cant see it from my house anymore as someone built a block of flats in front of it :o. (and it's dark lol )

I cant see it from my house anyway - wrong side of the hill.

Temp had dropped to 1c but it is now rising to 2.2c with dp of 1.9c :(

  3. Just had a peak at your temperature

    Appley Temp 4.5C

    Dewpoint 4.1C

Those are incredible temperatures considering even the warmer areas south of the region have reported massive temp drops. Tho I do confess the max dewpoint for us this morning was 2.2, now its 0.6C. Temp just about hovering on 1.8C all very marginal at best at the moment, but we have had some very wet snow / sleet when it was looking like being a very warm day indeed.

I just want to add our temps are rising again too.

    My temp 2.4C

    DP: 1.0C

Wind Dir: W by S, so we are back under the irish sea influence after being under the NE airflow for an hour.

    Overcast with occassional light drizzle.

Yeah I have not seen any drop at all.

It always seems to be warmer in this precise location than the surrounding areas - both in the car and on my weather station. I am at about 60m I think but there is nothing between me and the sea to stop the warm air.

  4. I wish I could ski, but perhaps they'd allow sledging?

I saw a few people up there with sledges, but I doubt that they would allow you to use the drag lift.

Light snow on and off throughout the day here in Horwich along with very strong winds. Not settling at this altitude, but there are blizzard conditions up on Winter Hill and a light covering blown about by the wind up there. The ice is hanging on wherever it has been compacted - footpaths pretty lethal unless great care taken. Elsewhere, a mess of meltwater, slush and mud.

How are the roads? I was thinking of taking a drive up Winter Hill later this evening, but I drive a Lotus which is not renowned for its winter capabilities. :wallbash:

  5. Frequent, squally wet-snow showers here this afternoon, with the temperature back home of just 1.6º and the dew point of just 0.3º. Must be settling again on the Pennines, but I can't see them so I don't know to be sure.

    Hi OON

I was up your end yesterday (skiing at Yad Moss). Came down into Appleby and it was around 2c and raining, whereas up on the tops it was around -1c and quite heavy snow at times.

The snow was really blowing around too in that easterly closing the summit back down to Penrith. It was open when I went up with approx 2ft on the road then, so it must have been bad later on.

  6. Has anybody else noticed that the temp in Tullock Bridge (Scotland) is already -16c!!!

The band of prec above Northern Ireland looks like it actually has an outside chance of making it's way towards us - here's hoping :)

I just hope that prec of Southport now does not fall as rain here.

Kids have been sledging down my street all day and it is unbelievably slippery - a frozen layer of water on top of that would not be good.

Current temp 2.8c, so a little marginal.
