    Hello again,.

I managed to dig out a photo from a previous years summer, just to give you a contrast.  On the snow picture you cannot see my pond, but it is there :-)

    Enjoy

I'll probably not see my "yellow" grass again until end of April....when I was out yesterday, the snow was well...upto my lady bits to put it polite4ly, and I only stopped sinking because of my ass :-P.

    Hi Steven,

We get lovely summers here too. I will post them when it finally gets here....lol.  I moved here from UK 8 years ago as I wanted to experience this type of snow.  If you are young enough, I'd say go for it.  If you want snow, then of course East Coast is best, but Alberta gets plenty as does every other province, theres different types of snows.  The Priaries (Saskatchewan, Manitoba) get freezing temps and strong winds so the snow tends to be more like dandruff sizes, The west coast gets more snow in the Mountains, and Alberta of course, gets snow as weather patterns cross over the Rockies, but we tend to get the big storms that come from the Atlantic, or Gulf.  This one was caused by an Alberta Clipper than blended nicely with a low and voila.....70 cms  :-)

I do enjoy seeing UK's snowfalls, not to laugh, but because I know back in the day, I would have been happy as a pig in ***t to have that amount of snow.  I think its wonderful that when it does come, you guys are able to get out and enjoy it too :-)

  4. Hi all,

I desperately need some information on models. I'm flying to UK for my daughters wedding December 10 from Saint John New Brunswick. Long term weather on weather network has indicated a possible NorEaster.

Just wondering if you can be a little more specific of it probable track. I know that's not an easy thing to do, but just a ball park or what the majority of the patterns are indicating.

    Many many thanks

  5. Hello Everyone again,

Its been along time since I posted here, and with a wonderful Nor'easter approaching, I thought I would ask you guys if they had any idea what weather is like in UK for December, as I am visiting my home country after 8 years absence and was hoping some of the white stuff I am used to will make its way there for Christmas.... :-)  I know, you'd think I'd bve fed up with snow, all the locals think Im mad as I still get excited over the large snowfalls we have here, but, as Im over in UK for Christmas, I want snow there too....how selfish of me....lol.

So far this winter, we have had 2 Nor'easters, producing no more than 10 cms of snow, so not too bad at all, no snow days from school. much to my daughters disappoinment, however, the next Nor'easter is set to dump around 20 to 30 cms, so a strong possibility for a snow day tomorrow.

Its nice to see a few names I recognise on here, and if Beverley lass can get in touch with me on deborahforever and the usual email account that would be great too,  \

    Happy Winter folks

  6. Hello again folks.

Well we had more snow overnight and without drifts, we had about 80 cms....maybe more. Driveway was cleared last night around 8pm, and looked no different this morning.

Managed to catch the tail end of the storm clouds this morning as I prepared to dig out.

Just so you can gauge how much snow we got....cos it always snows in Canada.....prior to this storm we had had a mini thaw and I could see yllow grass. The driveway was totally cleared as was the deck....so these are actaully just the last 24 hours of snow mounds that you are seeing. :-)

    Enjoy the pics.

  7. Hello folks,

Not been on here for such a long time. Lots of different names on here now.

Weather here in New Brunswick is fabulous. At least 40 cms fell so far. Snow start 8pm last night and although lighter now, its still falling. Winds are strong from the North and blowing up drifts to a meter in places. Temps are Good at -7 with windchill at -17, so a little warmer than last nights -26. :)

This is why I emigrated :-) Enjoy the pics.

  8. What does 'today the roads were clear' mean in connection with having snow ?.

    LOL

Sorry was not being too cheeky to the British roads when I wrote this....its just that the snow ploughs do a good job here as there is more of them, so we were able to go out onto a clear road and you would never have thought that there had been 40cms of snow at all. Mind you we had to dig our way our of our drive first......bloody snow ploughs don`t lift when the go past your drive...LOL

  9. Blizzard conditions about to develop in parts of Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, as a rapidly deepening low starts to loop through the Gulf of Maine on Sunday. Debs, you may have some periods of sleet mixing in at your location, further inland in NB I expect 30-50 cms of snow, same across most of Maine, 20-40 cms in NH and parts of VT into northeast MA.

    Hi there,

Well yes we got alot of snow that day, we had drifts over 4ft with the strong winds and then snow depth was 37cms on our deck. All in all it was quite thrilling.

Today the roads were clear so we went out sledging and at -5 and the sun shining we didn;t need coats......no windchill to content with I guess.

Its great to see the UK get a good dumping of snow too....especially the North East, where I grew up and remember the winters fondly.

Hope it stays around for you snow lovers over there.

Anyway, we made use of the sbow as you can see from the attached photo......LOL We call it a Canadian Cooler

  11. In Oregon today its 5 pm and the heat is still at its peak at 95... so they claim it's really 100 on our back porch! hazy and breezy... when will our winter come back?!

I've just got back from a trip to Oregon....lovely place. Makes me want to uproot and move out there. What I want to know id, when does your winters start and finish, because like you said its still in 100 degrees out there and looks like its not cooling down to quickly, so when will that start to chill and is it a rapid drop in temperatures over a short period of time. Do you have 4 seasons or just summer and winter. I loved it out there.......so picturesque.

  12. Hi Roger,

Cheers for the info.......I guess its a case of wait and see. either way its going to be a messy drive to work tomorrow.

Must agree with you on the Spring like weather....it led us into a false sense of security I think and had a laugh and is once again blasting us with the cold......ah well what can we expect from Mother Nature eh.......

Mind you, snow is still a wonderful sight to see after being deprived of it for so long over the years so the more the better for now. Once spring gets here I will look forward to the summer and the heat that it brings......ah can almost smell the BBQ already....Mmmmmmmmm

  14. Hi All.

Well a second snow storm in 3 days. Last nights storm dropped well over 40 cms locally here. Heavy snow. some drifts upto 8 feet high in places. It started around 10pm last night and is still snowing now. Cleared the drive around 12 noon and by 1pm another inch had fallen, although I know this is light snow so I'm not too worried about tomrrow morings possible dig out as its supposed to stop in a few hours.

Its been a good 7 days. Wouldn't bet that this snow will last well into April, the packed snow and ice must be at least 7 feet on a level ground. Some snow piles are highrer than my house........makes for a great sliding hill for my daughter.... http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

May be the last decent snow of the season so it good its gone out with a bang....
