Chucking it down with rain here

chucking it down with rain here.

Good stuff for the people that have had snow. Looking at met office they say low risk for end of next week. It's sunny now and that's all it says. So, I think any snow here will be luck. Nothing significant by any stretch if the imagination. Just think my location is against me, too far inland!
EDIT; posted twice please delete this one mods, thanks.
Same here. not really expecting any snowfall over the next week although Im not complaining after the amounts we had before Christmas. In fact I'd prefer if we got none or very little so it's not disruptive around here over the next week!
-
Heavy rain here and thunder/lightning= doing a great job of clearing the roads in time for Christmas so very pleased with that. Here's to the next snowy shot after Christmas!
-
Saw the most amazing electric blue flash of lighning driving back from Andover tonight, been heavy rain in our area all day. Although I wasn't home was told that Wallop saw nearly an inch of sleet earlier today. Was also told by my Dad that Middle Wallop was reported on the news as the coldest place in England at -10 last night. We drove back from Southampton at around 10pm last night, the car registered -8 in the freezing fog at that time.
With the snow we've had, the frost, the freezing fog, rain and sleet with thunder and lightning, surface water flooding on the roads, I've got to say these have been a few of the most exciting days of weather I've seen for some time
Pretty amazing thunder and lightning here and heavy rain - hopefully will melt all the ice and snow on the roads so we can start getting around more easily for Christmas!

Lol the atmosphere above these areas stretches over many towns so the orange sky is from the surrounding towns committing light pollution, not necessarily directly below you.
No chit Sherlock! But very rare to see and lovely all the same.
-
Yeah ebcause of the street lamps/car lights/ (and Christmas lights!) reflecting of the snow back into the cloudy sky.
Not round these parts - I live out in the sticks surrounded by fields rather than street lights - very impressive - obvioulsy because of the snow - but for the shortest day of the year certainly makes a change to the normal murky gloom!
-
Just back from a walk round the fields with the dog - still snowing but can't believe how light it is for midnight out there, absolutely beautiful with visibility almost like daylight.
-
Just started again here, can't believe how much we've got today. Really sympathise with those who've been seriously caught out though today. Many of my friends have had horrific journeys and the A4 near to me is literally a car park at the moment.
-
Total carnage round here now - one of the main bridges in Sonning has been shut for the past few hours - continous heavy snow from 12.30pm not stopped and still going. Just had a mate phone coming back from London to ask if he can stay at ours as well as he cant get home. Way more snow in the last week than we had in Feb, best spell for years round these parts.
-
same here - been continuous now for 5 hours with about 3" on top of what was still lying. Still streaming down. Finally managed to rescue my car from the bottom of my road as the ice is now covered with snow. Looking amazing out there though!
-
This is just incredible - didn't see this happening today yesterday! Been relentless heavy snow for the past few hours and already had 3-4cm on top of what was already there from Friday.
-
Really starting to settle now good good.
-
It's gone back to sleety rain!!!
The flakes were the biggest I ever saw. They were like 2 X 50's together in length. Absolutely massive.
Same here huge flakes still snowing a lot but it's not settling at all it's still too wet - everything a bit too slushy now
-
Its SNOWING in reading but the radar says sleet go figure. Its def snow. I work here
If your in Reading look out the window its snowing not raining ??
Still Rain here - I'm outside of Reading though in Twyford about 4 miles east - definitely rain although more sleety now so hopefully it's on the turn!
-
Anyone got anything interesting to say about todays RAIN event??
Seems wet and cold to me ... it looks like rain.....it feels like rain.....it probably is rain (everywhere down south)...roll on Christmas!
Nothing interesting to say about the rain here other than that's what it is and it's cold.
-
snowing very heavily here and big flat flakes too. Can't see it lasting too long but seems to have intensified somewhat since comign over this way
-
Looking at the radar snow heading south from Bham, we have low temp in Reading with snow still lying from yesterday, we might get lucky and get another 1-2 cm of fresh stuff?
No not expecting anything here tonight now - the band coming down is weakening and I don't think there will be anything left of it once it does. Reports from people who are under the ppn as per the radar are also reporting nothing much coming out of it. Can't complain though we had plenty over night Thursday and it's still lying on the ground. Could do with warming up though so I can actually get my car out of the street!
-
Just started to snow here again very lightly at the moment.
-
Seemed to have done very well here overnight around 3-4" level and more in drifts. cars are all abonded on our cul de sac which is on a steep hill and the usual scenario when it sonws. Better than the Feb event this one.
-
radar on met office is the only way!! going to hit pompey soon!! cant miss surely!!! then to isle of wight
even on there shows us being right under the heaviest stuff but nothing! Lol.
-
Netweather Radar is total Gash. shows me as being under the heavier ppn for the past hour yet nothing has fallen! What a waste of money! wont be renewing the subsrciption to this pile of pants!
-
12z run really downgrades the snow potential for the Midlands tomorrow and Friday. I hope it changes for the better again in the next 12-24 hours.
Have to agree with that - I just can't see any significant PPN coming into the frame. Neither can I on the next few days just some light stuff now and again but nothing heavy. Happy for someone to prove otherwise but what I'm looking at just doesn't show it!
-
Fizzling out now and more sleety looks like turning to rain anytime soon. Left a VERY light dusting but nice to see some big flakes coming down - just the starter!
