  1. Good stuff for the people that have had snow. Looking at met office they say low risk for end of next week. It's sunny now and that's all it says. So, I think any snow here will be luck. Nothing significant by any stretch if the imagination. Just think my location is against me, too far inland!

EDIT; posted twice please delete this one mods, thanks.

Same here. not really expecting any snowfall over the next week although Im not complaining after the amounts we had before Christmas. In fact I'd prefer if we got none or very little so it's not disruptive around here over the next week!

  2. Saw the most amazing electric blue flash of lighning driving back from Andover tonight, been heavy rain in our area all day. Although I wasn't home was told that Wallop saw nearly an inch of sleet earlier today. Was also told by my Dad that Middle Wallop was reported on the news as the coldest place in England at -10 last night. We drove back from Southampton at around 10pm last night, the car registered -8 in the freezing fog at that time.

With the snow we've had, the frost, the freezing fog, rain and sleet with thunder and lightning, surface water flooding on the roads, I've got to say these have been a few of the most exciting days of weather I've seen for some time :(

Pretty amazing thunder and lightning here and heavy rain - hopefully will melt all the ice and snow on the roads so we can start getting around more easily for Christmas!

  3. Yeah ebcause of the street lamps/car lights/ (and Christmas lights!) reflecting of the snow back into the cloudy sky.

Not round these parts - I live out in the sticks surrounded by fields rather than street lights - very impressive - obvioulsy because of the snow - but for the shortest day of the year certainly makes a change to the normal murky gloom!

  4. Looking at the radar snow heading south from Bham, we have low temp in Reading with snow still lying from yesterday, we might get lucky and get another 1-2 cm of fresh stuff?

No not expecting anything here tonight now - the band coming down is weakening and I don't think there will be anything left of it once it does. Reports from people who are under the ppn as per the radar are also reporting nothing much coming out of it. Can't complain though we had plenty over night Thursday and it's still lying on the ground. Could do with warming up though so I can actually get my car out of the street!

  5. 12z run really downgrades the snow potential for the Midlands tomorrow and Friday. I hope it changes for the better again in the next 12-24 hours.

Have to agree with that - I just can't see any significant PPN coming into the frame. Neither can I on the next few days just some light stuff now and again but nothing heavy. Happy for someone to prove otherwise but what I'm looking at just doesn't show it!
