looks like my praying for no snow on the 17th around here is working! Thank you GOD!!!
-
If I had a pound for every time somebody said this after seeing one run I would be a very rich person...
Yes Exactly - it will NOT happen anything like that. Classic 18z scenario that has about 10% chance of actually happening.
-
I am seriusoly praying we have no snow on Thursday 17th!! PLEASE NO SNOW in my area until after 2pm on the 17th!!!! After that then great, let it fall!

So, big differences between the models as early as T+96. ECM sticking by its 00Z guns.
Based on previous experience, which model usually predicts these potential E'ly setups most accurately?
I normally find the ECM to be the more reliable one at this time range. Personally I'm hoping it verifies although that goes against what most others here would like to see. Looking at the evolution it's very plausible, however so are the other models as well. It's still anyones guess as to what the finer details will be and I do find as things get nearer the most reliable will usually be the fax charts as they have human input.
-
Hopefully , it's just strange that the ecm keeps looking like a flabby high with no real interest apart from dry. It's generally done the same bar one blip yesterday , it's also on its own regarding all the other models.
I've kind of got everything crossed that the ECM is correct this time. As much as I'd love some snow for purely selfish reasons I've organised our annual Christmas golf do on the 17th next week and there's 40 of us playing (hopefully!) so could od with that model being the correct one at the moment!

i think your right about the models but its not only thing i follow,
jet
solar activity
enso
sst,s
ssw
and global weather patterns and they all seem to be doom and gloom.
alot of people may slate me for this but ive seen this type of change and setup before,
and 80% of the time winter turns out bad for us.
although living on the soggy southcoast does not help lol.
I certainly wouldn't slate you but if it turns out mild I for one would be happy with that. There's plenty on here who like a mild winter. Don't get me wrong I love a bit of snow when it comes but in this country it last a day or two an it's gone anyway. I would be very happy with a big fat euro high all winter. Keeps me out on the golf course and able to carry on doing things I enjoy all year long. I f I fancy a snow fix I can quite easily jump on a flight for under £50 and go spend a day or two somewhere snowy.
Get over yourself

big thunderstorm here at the moment thunder literally shook the house a couple of minutes ago - only problem is the satellite signal being knocked out and I was enjoying the golf!
-
i love the snow, love driving in the snow, Bring on the trumpets
ah, a fellow PH lol
-
I love the snow, my problem from a purely individual point of view is that I run an IT company with over 10 staff and we supply IT and support IT into schools, so when you have almost a week of every customer being shut and your paying all your staff to effectively do nothing it hurts a bit, especially having to put project work back etc. We've probably lost somewhere in the region of over 10k just since Monday, so that's why I am officially bored with the snow now!
-
I am officially bored of it now because it's costing me a fortune
-
Very Heavy snow overnight here with thunder and lightning to boot which woke me up about 6am. been drizzling since but just turned back to proper snow again now albeit quite wet snow.
-
Just started raining here in Berkshire, chances are that it will turn to snow later on but who knows. dis very well last night with a little more snow than the 3 or so inches on Monday, hopefully a reload of last night if it turns to snow later on but I wont hold my breath, off to bed see what happened in the morning I guess!
-
i likes the snow,,, but could do with a little rest from it now, been stuck on the snow/ice twice today(mondeos are so bad even with traction controll) at one point i got out the car and said to the mrs 'im going now i might be gone some time'
You need to turn the traction control off!
-
snowing again very hard here but very wet and certainly not settling ontop of what's here already.
-
chucking it down here much heavier than any we've had so far
-
throwing it down here - didnt expect this today!
-
Am I GOING CRAZY DID ANYONE SEE ITV WEATHER,,,Surely this cant be right..............up to 10cm anywhere tonight south..............And tomorrow sleet and snow anywhere south.........surely this is a big bodge cant be correct
she had a line from say Bristol to Norfolk..........
It's most definitely wrong
-
had a band of very heavy snow poised to slam us just now, then at the next radar interval, it's reshaped itself to avoid Reading. Unbelievable. EVERYWHERE north, south, and east of us are getting pasted and we've had maybe 2".
Reading is always good for that - I expect it.
-
continuous snow here since about 11am although it's not added to any of the overnight falls in fact it's thawing faster than it settles.
-
Very nearly at the point where I can't see the grass poking through - not quite there yet though but looks like now according to the radar should have at least an hour or so so I'll stay up a bit longer I think
-
yes, i'm watching the superbowl as well! and yes, it is snowing here now too! maybe give it half an hour more and one more radar update....
Americans really do know how to make sport dull and boring though I'll give them that, anyway back on topic it's still coming down here and is getting heavier - although having lived in Fernie for 3 years in the Canadian Rockies I could never describe UK snow as heavy!
-
i was actually on the IOW this afternoon and there was about an hour of pretty solid snow, which didn't settle. i rushed home at about 90mph expecting fireworks - i won't do that again. Having said that, from that radar image, there does look to be a line of more organised snow pushing into berks/south oxfordshire. I can but hope..or go to bed.
It is now snowing - very lightly though - I'll give it 10 more minutes or so then I'm off to bed due to boredom although that's more to do with watching the super bowl than lack of snow
-
READING should be seeing some hefty snowfall sometime VERY soon from what it seems on the Netweather radar!! Bright echoes of yellows and reds! goodluck with it all lol, im jus on the brink of it and its all heading in a neatline very slightly south of here B)
I seriously hope so! Been a very long time since anything decent came this way
-
i honestly thought when i moved up here 6 years ago from the IOW that it could only be better! i'm wrong! hopefully, the troughs will form tomorrow and we'll be ok. it is an extraordinary thing, though. snow going north and south of us!
yep missing me by literally 5-7 miles - plenty ealrier on when I was over in Ascot, jack all here and the most annoying thing is the radar shows it over me and has been - yet I have nothing other than the lightest of sprinkles.

Snow is getting much fatter and heavier now here, settling on everything which was well and truly frozen overnight.
