I'm just going to enjoy tomorrows snow however much we get. Will take the kids and the dog for a nice walk and cherish any snow we get after all time is running down on this winter tomorrows event may be the last chance of snowfall.

Just started snowing here lightly in Whiston near St. helens. :lol:

A bit of a non-event here 2cm covering at the most, rapid thaw setting in now although it has just started snowing again lightly I can't see it amounting to much. One quick question has the Northerly extent this front has tracked now spoilt it for the possible snow event on Saturday for us Northerner's or could it still happen?

Just saw on local tv weather Merseyside hasen't seen the worst of it with another band of snow soon to arrive. only had about 2-3cm and it had started to melt but light snow beginning to fall again now and should get worser as the temperature drops hopefully. :lol:

Temperature currently here on Merseyside -0.4c and dropping with a dewpoint of -4. Conditions currently look excellent here for snow if the front reaches this far North and doesn't fizzle out in the process. I'm feeling very optimistic we may actually see a light covering of snow here come morning/afternoon.

Temperature has risen from -1c - 0c in the past half an hour here just outside St. Helens Merseyside and the dewpoint is now at -4 down from -2 in the past hour and half. Wind is SSE at 9 km/h. I'm hoping the temperature drops slightly before the front arrives, or indeed if it does push this far North.

Us Northerners can't win! If the low moves too far North the cold won't return so Saturday's possible snow event won't happen. If the low doesn't move far enough North we won't see any snow from this current set-up! :wacko:

looking a bit better for my area East Merseyside, where a shift in the front of a few miles here or there could make the difference as its marginal as to weather we will see much from this current event. It's currently 4c with a dewpoint of -2, wind direction has moved South in the past half hour, which could point to the front perhaps pushing further North unfortunately bad news for Saturdays chance of snow then perhaps?

Is it just me or does the front look like it may be moving further North than anticipated, or is that just me being hopeful?

Great I'm about 5 minutes away from St. Helens, Lighter snow for me then. Still could be surprised though I suppose (hope)!

just got this updated weather warning of the meto site, seems as some people are having trouble accessing the site, looks like a downgrade for the Northwest unfortunately. Heavy Snow 0100 Thu 8 1500 Thu 8 This is an update to the warning issued on Tuesday 6 February 2007 The Met Office is expecting a period of heavy snow to develop across much of Wales and parts of Southwest England early on Thursday, extending to the Midlands, London, the Southeast of England and East Anglia during the morning. Some snow is now also expected to reach Northern Ireland, with a risk to parts of northern England before dying away from all areas by Thursday evening. Accumulations of 2-5cm are expected quite widely inland, with 10-15cm possible for parts of the Midlands and Wales. Rain is more likely close to southern coasts and across most of Devon and Cornwall. The period of snow could cause disruption to travel networks, especially across high level routes and the fact that timing of this event will coincide with the morning rush-hour.

I guess there is nothing more to do now except wait until the front pushes in later today/tonight. I really hope it manages to push this far north before it fizzles out. A very late night tonight for me radar/lampost watching methinks! Good luck to everyone with regards to the upcoming snow, especially you snow starved southerner's/midlander's. For once it looks like you will see the best outcome from this upcoming event.

Just checked out the meto sight and they think the snow will push into Merseyside around 3am and will last on and off all day tomorrow! I really hope there right and the front manages to push this far North, If not there is always Saturday to look forward to I suppose if that snow event comes off!

What do you think Merseysides chances are of seeing a good covering of the white stuff on Thursday? Will the front fizzle out before it reaches this far North?

The difference in temp's across the country is quite considerable at the moment. 4.9c here currently in the NW, whilst in Tonbridge it's only its is only 0.3c. We have quite an amazing climate here in the UK.
