  1. Sorry but there,ll be no ice age any time soon.Theres just not enough info to prove anything on this subject. In my life time we,ll have some cold seasons and some mild ones.If we did get a hic up in the climate something completly mad would have to happen eg yellow stone volcanic euruption or a metor strike that put millions of tons of ash into the atmosphere causing a global instant cool down.An ice age is a human altering experance, ie kill us all off,in my opinion if the earth was to wobble on its axis and turn away from the sun then yes the northern hemisphere would cool down but when is that going to happen, last time i read it is supposed to happen in 13 thousand years
  2. No matter how yellow my grass is, its time to cut its sorry ass, rake it deep and sprinkle alot of moss killer.
  3. Hope these are wordy Both taken in Wicklow
  4. Lots of light snow showers and hail , not sticking
  5. Light then to heavy snow , very windy with a current temputure of 3 dc In the form of heavy showers merging to give long spells . Sticking to the frosty areas (snow on frost)
  6. Careful of getting bald patchs. :o You should really get a rotater in and dig it up. Then add alot of really rotten compost. Turn it in well . Then plant a complete new lawn. Spring is,nt here yet so its not to late.
  7. Back to rain Just my luck 4.1c Roll on the weekend and beyond
  8. Steady heavy wet sleet ,trying to turn to snow, big flakes mixed in 3.4c dropping slowly Brisk breeze making it feel very cold
  9. Lashing rain  Very windy "gusty" 8.6C falling Pressure falling Humidity 57%
  10. This cant be good, my grass has gone really yellow I know it does this during winter and it has been very cold here ,but i actually think its dying This happened before and going on what i hear it really is a sign of colder weather
  11. Cutting your lawn in "winter" isnt a good idea mainly because you introduce the chance of moss growing. It loves the cold damp conditions that if theres any space in your lawn it will grow like wild fire. Thats a no no but its not a bad idea to feed your lawn to just help it along a little with a moss killer in the mix  .
  12. Evening Steve .B Dont cut it just yet. Hold off till this cold weather goes "march" Seriously wait till it becomes a little milder, however since this will be its first cut, just give it a trim. If you cut it real tight and the weather goes cold, damp again, moss might get in on your lawn and that would be a disaster
  13. Thanks T.M Them little fellows are popping up all over my flower beds. Planted tons of Daffs at the end of September. These Primula,s must have sneaked in.
  14. Expect a little slow down in grass growth over the next 10 days if the cold lasts any length of time.
  15. Snow drops are starting to bloom ,a sign of the resent mild spell. If i were them i,d go straight back under ground ,this weeks frost is going to wipe them out.
  16. If your grass is green and very thick, its deducted that in your area that it hasnt been cold over a given period ,mild to say the least, growth seems to be not affected at all, in all you,ve been having quite pleasant weather. .....so the grass says :o
  17. AH!!!! Grey Grass very common in built up areas or places with barbeques
  18. Some thing thats been mentioned to me over the past few winters. Usually when it gets really cold for a sustained period ,grass stops growing and nearly die,s hence its yellow appearance. Just wondering if thats the case in other peoples locations. I remember a programme about the Scottish Highlands and a farmer saying that in a normal winter pre 80s that the grass would completely die off. Natures sign of cold weather, but how often do we see it nowadays?
  19. Its not mild at all Its bloody cold So if you want mild go to the Go-be Desert If you want cold in wetern Europe wait a week The gfs will soon point to cold so next year when we,re down in a depression about "mild" on this day no doubt we can reminnse about how a severe cold spell ROARED out of the east like a Frieght train out of control Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooo...........
