A few hours ago, I heard the deeply distressing news, that my Son Antony passed away, in his sleep overnight.

Antony was in the advanced stages of Huntington's Disease, which is a genetic and terminal illness.

Antony inherited the condition from his Mother, my first Wife.

He would have been 40, next Month.

He passed away at Home, where he lived with his Sister Hayley, and her Boyfriend.

I realised that Antony was only a matter of Months away, from being placed in a Care Home but thought he might still have another few Years of Life to come.

It obviously was a tremendous shock to hear the news of his passing, from my Daughter's Boyfriend.

I have just put an In Memoriam post up in that Thread, to Antony's memory.

    Regards,

    Tom.

so very sorry to hear of your tragic news, may your son rest in peace

    Yeah.

Defo hoping for better than the odd flake falling.

If we can keep cloud cover it would help slow any thaw.

That sun has some strength to it today.

Theres a 2degree difference between having sun or cloud right now..

Going on last nights charts this evening was always looking better for us

Wasnt expecting things to get going till mch later today..

    Thoughts ?

    .

the met outlook for us in ramsgate tonight is that we have forecast heavy snow from 6pm until 3am but.......bbc show us with the odd flake occasionally.... your guess is as good as mine !!

Oh no, not the wrong/right type of snow again.

I worked on the railway for thirty nine years and yes , we can have the wrong type of snow. Basically the dry powdery stuff when it happens blows up under the trains and in to the traction motors shorting them out where as the type we usually have (the wet claggy type ) does stay on the ground more and not get blown around

Note sure if it was 1991 or 1996, but we had a decent easterly set up and in Thanet where I lived at the time snow depths were a cm or two but 15 miles west in Canterbury where I was working the snow was 25/30cm deep. Hopefully that doesn't turn out to be the case this time!

in answer to paul and you, I would be glad if there was only 2cm on the ground (enough to say it snowed) but the weather will do what it will do and no amount of wishing will make it happen

Yh one saving grace is its the worst model giving the maginality GFS as everyone knows is dreadful with modelling and usually gets slapped back into line kicking and screaming.

Another thing on our side is no onshore flow for most of the SE until maginality does not matter Monday onwards and only the very Eastern tip of Kent might need to worry with the NNE aspect of winds during Sunday

well that puts us in thanet into marginality, but bbc and meto for ramsgate show light snow all day on sunday

  6. The Met Office outlook looks a bit grim for the next few weeks for us in the south with atlantic fronts coming through with rain and periods of slightly milder temps with northern and central areas having wintry hazards with a risk of snowfall on the boundary wherever that will be and into feb a period of above slightly above average temps and above average rainfall for the south although they do say that there is a greater then average chance of cold spells spreading across the whole country,     Although it is a disappointment things seem to be changing at a fast rate of knots so my glass remains half full.
