  1. started snowing in co.durham (stanley) at around 7.30pm yesterday with blizzard like conditions - was snowing very heavily in newcastle city centre as well with settling snow. In stanley we have around 4-5inches of snow with the second belt to arrive around 10pm this morning but look out the west coast as the radar shows a large amount of precipitation heading your way. unfortuantly the web cam in stanley aint working at the moment
  2. Hi John I was about to say the same thing - what a weekend - newcastle vipers beat dundee 5-0 last night then it is now snowing extremely heavily in stanley co.durham - where is that snowboard i bought years a go
  3. Well in Stanley, co. Durham we must of got 4-6 inches of the white stuff, it took my cousin2 1/2 hours to get home, a journey that normally takes 15 minutes. A couple of buses ended up sliding on hills and blocking roads - well done to Derwentside Council for not treating the roads or getting out the snow ploughs - we get snow like this quite often, at least 4 times a year when it gets really bad and the council keep cutting costs in road salt and gritters and then keep increasing their own personal wages. I am surprised no one got killed last night - 6 inches of wet snow on untreated roads is ridiculous. Hwver all the snow has gone as it turned to rain
  4. pleasently suprised t wae up to the following scene in stanley, co. durham, about 12km south west of newcastle which shows the showers have been moving inland. it is bloody freezing this morning i cud barely get up becos of the cold:
  5. can i just mention that the streaming webcam from yesterday was not consett but stanley which is about 10miles away from consett. The snow had all gone from stanley by 5am completely which was a shame as an inch or so had accumulated.
  6. it has been raining all day here then we had some sleet at about 9 and then at 10 it started to fall a slight snow then and still is very heavy snow thanks to the wind. I am suprised it is lying as the ground is saturated with rain.
  7. if it has started snwing in newcastle that is good, the toon is more or less at sea level whilst stanley maybe only 12 miles away it is 200m above sea level. I love snow in the north east as we always get loads when it comes.
  8. stanley consett - it kinda snows here in summer too
