Well the South Central England thread is ticking over about 100 times quicker than at any other time this Winter - about time too  Rain and sleet started to turn to snow on my way home and then got to Dibden and all of a sudden it was settling. We've had a good 60-90 minutes of snow here now, although when I went out to take some pictures a little while ago it had turned back to rain, and you could hear it melting off the trees and bushes. Nevertheless this probably ranks as equal the best snow I've seen at just over a massive 1inch/ 2.54cm so I'm pretty happy. Looking at the radar it looks like that band of snow/wintryness is going to pivot away from me soon but Portsmouth may continue for a while longer. It just goes to show there's no need to panic within the first half hour of rain, and as far as I know there is still uncertainty about who and where the snow will hit hardest. The night is young. For those lucky enough to have snow, savour it, take piccys and movies, and if you like the model watching side of things, save some of the model outputs so future featureless winters you can look back at today with a smile
