That's very bad of Susan Powell spreading misinformation. I too have tweeted @bbcweather for an explanation as this is misinformation...............we should all tweet @bbcweather

seems a strange forecast as they seem to be doing a bit of ramping regards the cold and snow potential for next week... they even recently tweeted an animated SNOW gif

    Yes

also PPn friday morning @10am in low dewpoints = a better chance of snow away from coasts

T30 GFS sightly more atlantic amplification-

ALL eyes on sunday eve PPN for prolonged wintryness !

    HI Steve,

What are your thoughts for Sunday eve ?
I thought temps were expected to be into high single figures for the brief warm-up on Sun/Mon ?

  3. wow, it's pretty painful to watch that precip slipping southwestwards, especially as the temps are the right side of marginal now - from an IMBY perspective, is there any other precip expected to make it to the soutcoast tonight?
I see the Metoffice still have a warning for snow for our area between 6am - 10am tomorrow, or is this just wishful thinking?

Glad to see some people have manage to get a decent covering tonight anyway...

I'll just post this pic here of the halo moon, and it's little mate Jupiter, as a consolation  !

It didn't look like it was going to deliver down here for the first part of today, bit it's certainly chucking it down now, with no signs of stopping anytime soon.... the radar suggests we could be in for quite a dump more before the night is out!

I think I've just about recovered from the 6 mile drive home taking over 2 hours, especially when we get scenes like these!

Enjoy the snow all those lucky ones that have it!

  5. It will turn to snow tormorrow morning-

    http://91.121.16.5/m...6-778.GIF?17-12 The current dewpoint is between 2 & 4c- at 7pm

    However come 6am tom-

the cold air will move over from the continent & when the front arrives it will snow- its difficult to say whether the coast ( thats within a couple of miles of the sea) will see settling snow- but dont give up yet- smile.png

    Thanks for that Steve.

Pinning my hopes on those GFS dp forecasts now - but as you say, it's always borderline this close to the sea.

  6. alot of broken hearts in portsmouth and the isle of white and along the south coast its raining.

i hate to slate the met office but they once again got local forecast very very wrong although this is normal unless the cold air comes from the east or northeast.

might be best not to bother visting the sw and southern thread.

im pretty cheesed of to but hey thats the weather enjoy people.

Yep, I could see it going this way when it hit 6.8c in the garden here today - not raining here yet, but doesn't look like it's far off & temps still up at 4.7c.

Will need some magic to get the temps down now with all this cloud cover...

  7. ooooh its hard not to get excited now. Wouldn't it be amazing to see some scenes like this.... some family pics of Feb 1979. 3 years before I was born but I remember some good snowfalls in the 80s where we were snowed in and all of the family sleeping downstairs huddled together infront of the fire as our house had no heating apart from the open fires. Awww we can live in hope that someday it will happen again! *whispers to the Weather Gods....soon please*

Great pics there Tilly, thanks for sharing - who needs instagram eh!
