From the album: Southend-on-Sea
Reclaimed from River Thames in the 19th Century, used for grazing until Flood '52. Bought by Council, used as local 'Tip'. Now a nature 'Reserve', consisting of two 'islands' dissected by access road. One side tidal saltmarsh, the other scrubland with natural 'lagoon'. Adder, buzzard, kestrel, tern, all sorts of gull, avocet, sparrowhawk, oh too many to mention. Common Seal Colony nearby. Wintering Brent Geese. Hadleigh Castle in background. Pretty cool place really.
