  4. I see reports of big flakes in Barnsley, and see my area looking good on radar, but outside just a few small flakes are falling, what's happening?
  5. Fine snow in Hemingfield, South Barnsley. Only settled on Car roof so far. Definitely getting heavier
  6. yeh...its started again, from Radar this looks like a bigger patch than the last lot...come on...what it white by the morning....
  7. stopped at the moment - lampost is about 100 yards away, but looks like its stopped - more coming according to the radar
  8. The Ben Bailey estate about half way down
  9. heyhey - also in Hemingfield, seems to be a dusting on the car roof now
  10. Although I agree a thaw is not very likely, it is surely possible that with strong winds an dry air, the snow could simply evaporate. I remember this happened in 1979, when I lived down in Kent. The weather stayed very cold and dry, but the snow gradually diminished due to the low humidity.
  11. Wow - really heavy now - pity the radar suggests it will only last 15 minutes - should get a good cm out of this
  12. Had to take dog to the vet last night, went up hill out of Hemingfield (not 4 wheel drive) got stuck on the steepest bit, passers by got us going again. Dearne Valley Parkway by cortonwood was like a mountain pass. Snow steady here now, but not heavy - there's another shower on the radar by york, might hit us in a bit - looks bigger.
  13. Going very dark now here too, should be a good dumping in a minute - I'm in Hemingfield, South Barnsley
  14. BBC showed it arriving in Yorkshire as rain, albeit fairly light, then turning to snow later before heading away SE.
  15. Quite a wind here in Barnsley, dull, overcast, wind force 4 means now too cold to sit outside.
  16. Very dark clouds here in Barnsley. Few flurries of snow. Getting darker, and not because of the setting sun
