Silly question but does this cover a larger area than Wallsend? Not sure how these work never got me head around them.

. Will be small variations but the profile pretty much covers most of upper atmosphere conditions in the NE area. This is a forecast from the 06 sounding and not actual conditions though. When the 12z soundings are available we should have a clearer picture on developments.

Wish I was in the NE today as today feels like that classic day of a cold front hitting humid air which results in big storms. I remember June 28th 2012 and it was not a particularly sunny day nor is it as warm now and we know what happened then for sure!

All I got from that day was distant thunder and amazing cloudscapes, storms just fell apart as they approached the coast.

  3. If showers do develop off the east coast I think folk on the coast might fair better with the chance of settling snow, with Dew points well below freezing ( -3.3℃ at midnight Thu/Fri) and 850hpa are approaching -8℃, the SST here in South Shields are slightly below average at 7.2℃ (average is 7.4℃..!!) so there's a chance but its a case of wait and see.
