WOOOT!
Heavy snow here with a good covering already and the radar is pepping up and chucking it this way!!!!!!!!!!!
Just think back over the last few years when all we had was........."Wooot!! looks like a big upgrade in FI for a toppler"
-
It all depends on how fast that cold front pushes down from scotland, and to be honest, it hasn't moved much since this time yesterday!
I think this will be an almost carbon copy of yesterday, with the snow roughly on the same track.
-
Well they have got the last 3 falls that we've had wrong so why should this one be any different?
Plus the meto have changed their warnings and we are now very much in the firing line.

The precipitation nearly over Normandy looks a bit further east than progged, does anyone think?
-
I think I'm too far south and as usual the Birmigham area will be the ones who get it.
But remember that Stratford sits alot lower than Brum.
Some places in Brum are over 700ft!
Brum's supposed to be one of the snowiest cities in Britain
-
Humm,
It does indeed look like a no go.
As its approaching the UK it seems to be fizzling out quickly.
I think ill just assume no snow now
will pepp up once it gets further north and starts coming under the infuence of the front coming down from the north :o
-
Wow just woke up to find there has been a 2cm fall of snow overnight!!! Topped up yesterday's melt and alittle more besides!!!

Sorry, but all i can see is cold and snow!
Any other year i would have wet myself seeing these sort of charts, but i work in a garden centre that struggles during the best of times in a cold winter.
I'm burning coal like n  o-one business to add to global warming atm lol!!
-
The whole winter this cold has had!
The whole of the past ten years!
There seems to be a malignant spite to this winter that can only ever come with recession!
If this run comes off, i will lose my job!
nothing more nothing less, so sit back and watch mother nature at her most savage!
She will have her way!
I do not want to put a dampener on this run, but one thing is for sure....it will happen!!!!!
God help us all!

louise lear showed it disappearing in the next couple of hours. thursday night looks interesting, several centimetres could come out of that.
Think that they have got it very wrong today as far as the worst affected areas are, the radar is showing a second band of precipitation moving northeastwards so.....you never know
-
Does anyone else think that the met office has slightly cocked up on the weather warnings?
we havw almost 4" now and it's still snowing??
worst areas seem to be the central spine of england from birmingham northwards.
-
Seems a bit naff, for what's to come after the heavy bit has passed.
Hope it will "back build" a bit or it will only last another hour then be snizzle.
-
I can't beleive it!!!! Just got back from walking the dog and it is absolutely chucking it down!!!
Looks like the midlands is more in the firing line than the east atm
What a huge, lovely surprise!

Do wish they they wouldn't close schools, that just means a load of feral youth running around like maniacs causing all kinds of trouble.
I'm sure that there is more risk to health and saftey by letting the little buggers out!
When I was at school in the eighties, we just used to get on with it.
If the heating went off, we sat in lessons with our coats on, makes me laugh how it is today...my god, that was only 20 years ago!
-
I'm a bit happier now as the latest radar shows a more westerly swing to the front, also it has developed somewhat on the western side.
All the showers ahead of the the front are pepping up too.....watch this space!
-
The tragic irony of it would be that even if it doesn't get as far west as Brum, it will have killed off all the showers ahead of it leaving us with nothing??
Talk about pee take!!
Hope I'm wrong, these things have a habit of surprising us anyway.
-
I'm starting to panic about this now lol. My initial worry was that the warmer sector would catch up with the PPN and turn it to sleet and be a washout for us... that was a day or 2 ago, now my fear has turned to the fact I think we will be too far West to get the main band!!! The GFS does show the PPN as far west as East Wales but it does show the heaviest stuff in East Anglia and North East. Sometimes the GFS just covers a large area with it's precip charts and it doesen't always end up being as widespread as the GFS precip charts say.
UKMO says heaviest in East Anglia and BBC forecast shows that Leicestershire and Rutland may be the western edge of it, in other words I might miss it! And so would you because you live in Warwickshire. Honestly if I miss this main band now i'll be sick
I think it will make it as far West as Birmingham, thats my prediction but I am fearing the worse just incase.
I'm gonna be a bit vexxed if it doesn't. we've only had just over an inch now, whereas everywhere around about has had about 3-6".
And I bought a pair of wellies 5 years ago and they still have yet to see a snowfall that merits wearing them
-
How far west is this front supposed to get? gfs says east wales, met says just the eastern strip as far west a cambridge?
Comfused .com!

Very heavy snow here now after light snow all morning, the roads are clear here, but this is the type of snow that will soon cover them.
Stay safe all, and enjoy this best thing in years event!!!
I just think back to us all only a week and a half ago, all moaping about coz all the models pointed to it being mild and southwesterly!!!
All good things come to those who wait, and BY GOD have we waited!
-
That snow shower just stopped here, got heavy for a while.
Left a dusting
awww that's a much better dusting than we had, i think we may be surprised overnight though?

-
showers just to the east of Brum appear to be pepping up on the latest met radar
-
I'm quite excited to say the least!! haha!
I can imagine the dober loved the walk today over the park, it was really nice out in this snow this afternoon!! I did wonder if you were as excited as me from your end of town (well, I say end of town... 4 streets away!) today when the snow came down!!
I was like a small child inside (but had to act all reserved like my 31 years dictates) still, i walked up thatpath from the park, over the canal and up that long drive next to the that little paddocks, then the snow came down so hard and thick that i had to hide in a house that was being build lol!!
Sable our doberman was running around like a mad thing, catching snowflakes and "snuzzling" her face in it!!
It was such a joy to see!
I'm hoping for alot more over the next few day, I'd love to see her and the yorkie bounding about in a good depth.

Just starting to lightly snow here again after a 3 hour break.

I agree I've studied the satalite loop and the low to the south which is currently located over the channel islands, has slowed very much in the last few hours allowing the fronts to push further north.
At the moment there is a big battle of lows, the one in scotland and the one in the channel islands, so we could see rather alot of snow before the channel low is shunted east.
