  1. In terms of any additional Northwards movement, this is likely to cease very quickly. It will then slowly sink back SE but it will indeed be a very slow process.

I agree I've studied the satalite loop and the low to the south which is currently located over the channel islands, has slowed very much in the last few hours allowing the fronts to push further north.

At the moment there is a big battle of lows, the one in scotland and the one in the channel islands, so we could see rather alot of snow before the channel low is shunted east.

  2. The whole winter this cold has had!

The whole of the past ten years!

There seems to be a malignant spite to this winter that can only ever come with recession!

If this run comes off, i will lose my job!

nothing more nothing less, so sit back and watch mother nature at her most savage!

    She will have her way!

I do not want to put a dampener on this run, but one thing is for sure....it will happen!!!!!

    God help us all!

  3. Do wish they they wouldn't close schools, that just means a load of feral youth running around like maniacs causing all kinds of trouble.

I'm sure that there is more risk to health and saftey by letting the little buggers out!

When I was at school in the eighties, we just used to get on with it.

If the heating went off, we sat in lessons with our coats on, makes me laugh how it is today...my god, that was only 20 years ago!

  4. I'm starting to panic about this now lol. My initial worry was that the warmer sector would catch up with the PPN and turn it to sleet and be a washout for us... that was a day or 2 ago, now my fear has turned to the fact I think we will be too far West to get the main band!!! The GFS does show the PPN as far west as East Wales but it does show the heaviest stuff in East Anglia and North East. Sometimes the GFS just covers a large area with it's precip charts and it doesen't always end up being as widespread as the GFS precip charts say.

UKMO says heaviest in East Anglia and BBC forecast shows that Leicestershire and Rutland may be the western edge of it, in other words I might miss it! And so would you because you live in Warwickshire. Honestly if I miss this main band now i'll be sick

I think it will make it as far West as Birmingham, thats my prediction but I am fearing the worse just incase.

I'm gonna be a bit vexxed if it doesn't. we've only had just over an inch now, whereas everywhere around about has had about 3-6".

And I bought a pair of wellies 5 years ago and they still have yet to see a snowfall that merits wearing them

  5. Very heavy snow here now after light snow all morning, the roads are clear here, but this is the type of snow that will soon cover them.

Stay safe all, and enjoy this best thing in years event!!!

I just think back to us all only a week and a half ago, all moaping about coz all the models pointed to it being mild and southwesterly!!!

All good things come to those who wait, and BY GOD have we waited! :D

  6. That snow shower just stopped here, got heavy for a while.

    Left a dusting :D

awww that's a much better dusting than we had, i think we may be surprised overnight though?

hey! good to meet u all! been reading all your replies this evening! yep! im a newb! it's been snowing ver lightly since i looked out half an hour ago! its so icy here! c'mon snow faster! :yahoo:

hi there!!! welcome to the forum!! :)

  7. I'm quite excited to say the least!! haha!

I can imagine the dober loved the walk today over the park, it was really nice out in this snow this afternoon!! I did wonder if you were as excited as me from your end of town (well, I say end of town... 4 streets away!) today when the snow came down!!

I was like a small child inside (but had to act all reserved like my 31 years dictates) still, i walked up thatpath from the park, over the canal and up that long drive next to the that little paddocks, then the snow came down so hard and thick that i had to hide in a house that was being build lol!!

Sable our doberman was running around like a mad thing, catching snowflakes and "snuzzling" her face in it!!

It was such a joy to see!

I'm hoping for alot more over the next few day, I'd love to see her and the yorkie bounding about in a good depth. :)
