To be fair I've not had my eyes calibrated in a while, but you are right, especially in this situation, it is always going to be a little over the top, measurement wise, once that adrenaline gets pumping.

Sizable tree down in the village, about 2ft trunk. Roads covered in general tree debris. Some phone lines down locally. Amazingly the remaining half of a tree at the top of my drive is still standing after the other but fell down in dead calm conditions the other week. (I still don't quite understand what happened there!) Edited to cover up the fact I can't type

Just had a baby squall line cross through here (Grantham, Lincs), I estimate, using my patented 'Eye-o-Meter' we had winds peaking 50-60 Mph for a very short time, very potent. In some of the gusts, it was like the remaining leaves exploded off the trees, which made it even more visually impactful.

Seems to be gaining quite a nice nose there (looking towards Newark, I'd say about over Newark infact) Gentle rumbling heard, some nice flashes, Top of anvil now just coming over my location. -

Keep the faith! I mean, it's not really worked for me, but it could work for you! I have a wobble board and someone ready to flick the light on and off really fast for later if we don't get anything #DesperateTimes -

A late evening chase for me, which was more a little drive out, saw a couple of nice sparks near Newark after I managed to capture these bad boys. -

Nice to have a little cell flair up right over the house for once. Not much but some cracking (excuse the pun) thunder. Nearest strike less than 300m away, some good sky rolling, panoramic style thunder too! -

Distant thunder can be heard, about once every 30 seconds. Nice and beefy, rolling across the sky type too! Bit of Mamatus on the front edge (well looks lime it anyway) -

Good morning. I've been told this is where you order storms, I hope I am correct. I would like to place an order for: 1x Medium Storm, 56x CG, 23 IC, 2x Nasty gusts (no damage option) and 3x Bouts of 'I've not seen rain like this for ages'. Delivery after 3PM please, as I've been on nights. Thank you in advance! -

I don't want to be *that person* but using my layman's eyes outside it does very much look like something interesting is happening, every cloud seems to be going in a different direction, and through the breaks in the lower (ish) cloud you can see cauliflowers shooting up at speed, which is making me quite hungry...thanks nature. Nice little discrete cell near Newark having a good go at things, making someone wet for sure. Hope everyone gets what they want, I fear I am going to be asleep during the 'best bit', blooming shifts.... -

Not at all, you have every reason to be exited, by my reckoning, that was less than 400 Meters away, I think you did well to keep the blue words at bay, personally! Nice capture. -

Talking to some pals on the PC when I heard sounds and went to investigate why someone was putting wheelie bins out at two in the morning.... Fist time on this phone photographing lightning (had it for two years....#StormStarved), it's ok, apart from the initial bit where it gets it's shutter in a twist *and yes, yes I am so lazy I Whatsapped the footage to myself rather than find the PC cable for the phone WhatsApp Video 2022-09-05 at 02.33.22.mp4 -

Due to life getting in the way, I haven't really been following any models as such, but have been keeping an eye on the 'Layman's' tools like XCWeather and Accuweather, or whatever it's called. I note a tiny, day on day, increase in max temps, very consistently, and [pro-forecast alert] AccuThingy has gone from "Thundershowers" to "Thunderstorms". I do have a gut feeling it may get a bit sparky, maybe late Monday...either that, or it's last nights curry...it's still early days. Also, is it just me that got a little emotional after seeing Eagle Eye's pics? I can't remember the last time I saw a nice sky Cauliflower. -

St. Louis, Missouri is suffering record breaking rainfall this morning. Some places have had over 11" of rain in just 7 hours, caused by a successive train of thunderstorms. Over a Million people are now under a Flash Flood warning, including the majority of the Missouri half of the city. -
Currently 28.4 here, dropped about a degree in the last hour. Finally brought myself to open some windows, although it's not far off the same temperature inside as out, it's 20% less humid outside. I'm probably on, say, stage 5 of 10 stages of cooling. Fans *are* deployed, but not pointing at me. Ice is available and standing by. Spray mist bottle location is known, but not ready for action. I still have the Duvet on the bed.... Tomorrow will probably be a different story.

A few bits of bubbling to the south west of Grantham offering very light reprieve from the searing sun. Still 35° though! -

Rather an interesting "little" feature in Wisconsin. I can't get my head around that strike rate, that's over 6 a second at times! -

Multiple rumbles of thunder and several visible flashes of lightning here in Grantham over the last five minutes. This could be a very interesting 24 hours....
