Covering of snow, temp 0.4c. Tonight could provide more snow than this frontal system.
-
Frosty clear start here in Teesdale. Freezing fog rolled up the valley as often it does in a SE flow. Only recently has temp risen above freezing. Overnight low -1.9C, max so far 0.2C.
-
Few cm of snow here, Brough to Middleton in Teesdale closed due to drifting snow.

Hail and sleet/snow shrs this morning replaced by a period of general snow. Leaving a covering of a few cm's.

Yad Moss will open tomorrow.

Low wind speed at the moment aiding evap cooling. Temp will increase as wind picks up from N.So bad for you guys. Seeing you getting rain i had accepted a wet, rainy evening however there are now widespread reports of snow to relatively low levels in West and South Yorkshire.I suspect you guys were screwed by the sea.

Rain band slightly further East than forecast, not really reached higher Pennines. Temps steady at 2.6C has been for several hrs. Saw more snow yesterday evening and this morning than from this Yellow warning.Just rain here. I'd be surprised if anyone not at high levels has seen anything but rain so far, though temp is falling a bit now.

Clearer skies here last hour or so revealed snow down to approx 550/600m asl. Melting fast in sunny weather and warmer temps pushing East.Snow level lower further up valley.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2487760/UK-weather-Bonfire-Nights-white-Snow-falls-Northern-hills-temperatures-dipping-freezing-point.html http://twitter.com/paulkingstonnnp/status/397747656434647040/photo/1â€There looked to be a touch of slushy snow on the highest bit of moor this morning but don't quote me!It was kind of misty so hard to be sure without going up there.Certainly cold enough for wet snow to fall, -0.9C in the early hours and still only 4.5C, we only had a couple of mm rain

Does anyone from Carlisle post on here? I am supposed to be going to the races up there next Saturday and wondering how bad the snow has been and the likelyhood of it being on if it stays dry.
No lying snow in Carlisle yesterday.

Nick have a ride up to Woodland via toft Hill road.
Just come back from Cumbria via A69 then A68. There's significant drifts, more there than most of Cumbria and best location on the NE.
Max yesterday -1.1C, today is not hot above -1.9C

Brief touch of winter before more wet and mild weather sweeps in. #snow http://t.co/nb9k00q9
-
pretty dire 0z.positives-rain amounts dropping off.Negatives-mild or mildish all the way
Actually probably increasing for more NW areas as lows transfer to a more traditional location. Relief for the SW though.
-
Yeah but thats technically in Cumbria not the North east.
Technically it is in the North East according to the Met Office. The Cumbria border crosses the Pennines watershed into the NE because of 13th century mining rights not cultural/geographical reasons.
-
The highest point in the region is The Cheviot, in the Cheviot Hills, at 815 metres (2,674 ft).
Cross Fell is 893m (2930ft)

Light snow shrs here. Giving a dusting.
-
Decent snow on the western side of the N Pennines much lower and deep than on the Lakes it would appear. Been to Kendal today surprised how high the snowline was.
-
Yep - it's been a while since the last proper blizzard (not that that would be, but you get my drift) up there, hasn't it?
Fingers crossed for next week btw,
This April event was interesting for drifting just lacked heavy snow ie 4cm+/h

That might be a good thing for us further east then with cooling effect of the evening/night then.....
On the map Yorkshire is region 3 I think?
No
If you look at the projected temps, its above freezing all night for most of the region.
A6 Kendal to Shap closed about 1hr ago due to snowfall.

Meto updated precipitation model shows intense precipitation over Pennines this afternoon with little making into the more populated parts of the NE until this evening.
