  1. Just had the following message from nephew who lives in Boston.

"We've had almost 6 feet in 3 weeks. It's getting a bit ridiculous now. I am grateful to the person who advised me not to skimp when we bought our snow blower but still have to do the path, steps and porch by hand. Also the deck out back but we might have left that too late. We did clear the first batch but since then didn't find time and now it's packed down to 2ft of really heavy stuff. Not sure how much more the roof can handle!"

  2. I'm hoping for some advice please on the best free radars available please?  The only one I use at the moment is "will it rain today", which I find ok as it updates every 15 mins, but it doesn't seem to show precipitation type?  Are there any alternatives.  Thank you.

If you want an app you could check out Met desk's Home and Dry and Snowfall radar http://www.metdesk.com/?page_id=1722, which I find pretty good. Have to pay for it though.

  3. Just been on a trip that included a tour round the lava fields of the Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote . Spectacular and very interesting. Just a pity you could not walk round it and it was not active.

It seems the past activity there is very similar to what has been going on in Iceland over recent months.

Makes me interested in going to Iceland. Anyone aware of reasonably priced tours from UK that gives you good guidance about what is going on there?

    Hello Graham,

I too, was unable to load the "natice" page however we do offer a couple of options that may meet your needs. Take a look at

    http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/snow-and-ice/recent.php

    or

    http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/snow

They may meet your needs. I have also copied our Climate Monitoring Branch in this response. They can address the issues with the natice page.

    Regards,

    William

  5. The problem I have is they do like to go and play in the road, with fatal results. This is even though I have a garden that backs onto open fields and there is easy access to adjoining gardens and ample food available. Now have empty hedgehog houses I slaved away making.
