Thanks.

Be helpful if your title had "the Alps" at the beginning.

Bit off topic but what is happening on A12 from roundabout by Tescos/ Toys are Us at Ipswich towards Colchester? 40 mph limit, for about 6 miles with piles of cameras and annoyingly no apparent workers. All a bit tedious.

Works on my ipad 3 iOS 7.
Having said that doesn't seem to do a lot.
Not a patch on Snow Radar by Metdesk.
-
Using ipad 3 iOS 7 click on it and it crashes after briefly seeing blue screen.
If you double tap the home button, which reveals open apps, it is apparently open. Tap on it it crashes.

Just had the following message from nephew who lives in Boston.
"We've had almost 6 feet in 3 weeks. It's getting a bit ridiculous now. I am grateful to the person who advised me not to skimp when we bought our snow blower but still have to do the path, steps and porch by hand. Also the deck out back but we might have left that too late. We did clear the first batch but since then didn't find time and now it's packed down to 2ft of really heavy stuff. Not sure how much more the roof can handle!"

I'm hoping for some advice please on the best free radars available please? The only one I use at the moment is "will it rain today", which I find ok as it updates every 15 mins, but it doesn't seem to show precipitation type? Are there any alternatives. Thank you.
If you want an app you could check out Met desk's Home and Dry and Snowfall radar http://www.metdesk.com/?page_id=1722, which I find pretty good. Have to pay for it though.

Regarding Iceland, this article has some handy info: http://edition.cnn.com/2014/12/09/travel/iceland-volcano-safari/

Just been on a trip that included a tour round the lava fields of the Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote . Spectacular and very interesting. Just a pity you could not walk round it and it was not active.
It seems the past activity there is very similar to what has been going on in Iceland over recent months.
Makes me interested in going to Iceland. Anyone aware of reasonably priced tours from UK that gives you good guidance about what is going on there?

Looking forward to new snow reports

Hello Graham,
I too, was unable to load the "natice" page however we do offer a couple of options that may meet your needs. Take a look at
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/snow-and-ice/recent.php
or
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/snow
They may meet your needs. I have also copied our Climate Monitoring Branch in this response. They can address the issues with the natice page.
Regards,
William

The problem I have is they do like to go and play in the road, with fatal results. This is even though I have a garden that backs onto open fields and there is easy access to adjoining gardens and ample food available. Now have empty hedgehog houses I slaved away making.

Looking over the last few days there seems to be quite large losses and gains of ice and snow. Can't be right surely?
-
Seems to be some increases and losses recently.

Quite interesting to go to Google Earth and use the fly over facility to get a feel for the landscape in the area of the various volcanos

Whilst everyone is waiting for Iceland to blow up.
Ok possibly a naive question from someone who doesn't know.
If Stomboli is in almost constant eruption why is the island relatively small?

Seems that we are all right as Express is also forecasting some cold weather. They are always right so there cannot possibly be a problem.

Please what do I say to a couple of local OAP's I know who are really suffering from the cold and havent a clue how they can pay to keep warm?

Would be nice if there was a direct access to a web page to webcams from Netweathers Home page that were searchable. I am sure a lot of people would refer to it.
