  1. I will start, today has been a great day for spotting things at my gf's house (preston way) I have seen an orange tip, something which resembled the common blue i recognise but it seemed richer and several other butterflies. I have also seen two kingfishers down by the brook by her house and alot of squirrels and little birdies. Now my question is i've seen an insect which looks like an humming bird hawk moth other than it has wings like a wasp or fly say, can anybody let me know what it is????? Post all questions and hopefully other members will be able to help you out.
  2. Here are my 3 entries, the first two are at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park looking towards Emley Moor Mast and the third is at the local cricket club. uhmmmmm i can't upload them, JPEG's aren't allowed apparently.
  3. Mr.Range-Rover....Convert it to LPG. And a quick question why do you 'need' a land-rover???? Are your Kids all Sheep who need to be towed behind on a trailer?
  4. John it would be a Major shock to us and alot of Europe.
  5. If for example the amount of fresh water far outweighed the amount of salt water and this stopped the Gulf-stream, what would we expect? Should we expect weather like Norway ??? And would we get fewer westerlies?! Thanks, DB
  6. it was around 3-4 degrees today in halifax and alot of sleet and some wet snow in heavier bursts of the rain.
  7. I work in a t-shirt all winter, you only need to get warmed up .
  8. I thought that was the article on cheap flights to Japan, Now im confused.
  9. Well It was 25 in the west of France where i have just come back from but Snow is forecast here this week which is rare so i'm sure the Alps will get something, A friend has just come back from a good weeks skiing in Verbier.
  10. Mondy i think there is a bigger issue behind this whole GW thing, possibly backing for more wars to gain safer energy supplies? i don't know you tell me!
  11. They'll be saying life support machines shouldn't be left on soon.... ...personally however i would love street lamps to be turned off after a certain time OR every other turned off it's amazing how many stars you can see in an unpolluted sky!
  12. Yeah Piers Corbyn and his -20 this week and 15ft of snow can bugger off, still he raised the points about the sun.
  13. No the IPCC is the gospel according to previous posts, i'll say no more on any of this i'll hang on five minutes before the big-guns get here
  14. I can only watch it until this point, T.V has been switched to Eastenders i think. Applause to Mondy for arguing till the death on this one. The programme is very good but i expect every single point made to be wrong. Sadly for the people who do not believe in GW we are a minority to the majority of governments world-wide who are going to rape us for it and good point's on anti-capitalism and the scientists making a hell of a lot of money out of signing these reports. Please Pro-GW people tell me why every single point in tonight's documentary is wrong and back it up with scientific evidence. For some reason however much to your irritation the coin has being flipped to us wanting you to prove them wrong and not us prove you wrong. Thanks, DB
  15. Parmenides i have been about on this forum for abit and in my experience this isnt correct however in saying that i will only provoke another response asking me to prove what i say blah blah, that is if this isnt deleted before then. Thanks though Parmenides, DB
  16. As i have said i am doing my bit trying to slow the earth warming however i don't believe in GW....the consequence is the loss of your wife because you argue on the net too much ...hang on, carry on then
  17. Great posts Roger and SF and good points Mondy, i tend to agree with Roger on the simple fact that the Earth is warming up however i don't agree with the pro-GW people who really are forcing there opinions onto us and basically saying 'no' you cannot be right you 'are' wrong and this is totally wrong IMO, people are doing thing's 'even' if they don't know they are and the Government are going to make us change our ways wether we like it or not. Now if these changes do actually matter at all we will find out, however i refuse to be told i am wrong until proven otherwise in the coming years. I really have nothing more to add to this arguement other than agreeing with Mondy and saying thank-you to some of the more thought out posts in here and i see no reason to reply with evidence as it's simply dismissed and classed as something from a thicko and let's be honest alot of you look down on other forum members because they don't have the time nor patience to specialise in such a subject. Thanks, DB.
  18. Bloody hell i'm a GW Guru...my dad's tightness pays dividends! We hardly have the heating on, even in winter! All our bulbs are weak energy efficient tripe The bulbs are always turned off anyway as he follows us around like a shadow! We recycle our waste by either feeding it to the chickens which give us eggs obv. or composting it We plant trees in our garden aswell as occasionaly chop them down I catch the train alot at weekends anyway but i do have to drive to work due to poor transport infrastructure around here. I don't leave anything turned on unless i'm using it(other than clock/alarm) and when i'm away i turn everything off I don't leave the tap running when brushing my teeth or whatever My dog's are in a wheel powering the house....no we have solar-panels which heat our water up. We fill our recycle tubs from the council And we smash street lamps Not bad eh?! i won't stop flying or driving to france though and i won't stop going to gigs with millions of watts of power being used. Thanks, a not bad feeling DB.
