Gfs FI looks great again but that's all it is, not gospel. Seeing as the new week has become a total let down for cold lovers, me included, I won't be looking at any charts until this time next week as at the moment everything is firmly up in the air and in-forecastable. Have safely put the 3 sledges back in the loft for the next 10 days !!!

Rubbish
Still unhappy, wondering if this thread was started all because of me !!

6 years a member of the forum yet only 41 posts. Why so few ? Because in my eyes theres nothing worse than spouting hero words then looking a complete numpty when it all goes pear. Some of the members here need a good long hard look at themselves. They are bordering 'Coco the Clown' with some of their predictions and chart analysis. Its quite embarrassing to be honest. Ramp, ramp, ramp and then when it doesn't look good theres always an excuse. Here's the reason, not the excuse. NO ONE can predict what will happen weather wise 10 days+. Hell, the Met had trouble forecasting over 2 days in Dec 2010, gave up and did nowcasts.
You can waffle and baffle me with charts galore, hey, chuck in some folklore for good measure just make sure theres some accuracy in the content ! We've gone from 'beast from the east' to 'atlantic batlle ground and then 'atlantic surge' all in 3 days. Shocking. Oh but its ok cause the 'beast' returns just in time for crimbo in FI. I want snow more than anyone here like you wouldn't believe but please, stop spouting tripe over events that are 10 days away
Sorry thats 6 years of ramping frustration coming out probably leading to a deleted post and a ban !

Morning all. Have been keeping a close eye on this one and will continue to do so. The potential is there for some damaging winds and heavy rain for us during Sunday. What is also a worry for us here in the islands is that the projected low coincides with some of our highest spring tides of the year. The high tides for Sunday in Jersey are at 06:03 and 18:32 respectively with a predicted height of 37.1ft for both (40ft being the top end of our scale). However, with the potential for very strong winds, deep low pressure and heavy rainfall, the predicted height of 37.1ft will inevitably rise considerably. We are currently having a new storm drainage system fitted along our South Coast following a major breach of the sea wall last year which caused extensive flooding. This could well be the new system's first real test.
Over here the higher tides are on the Tuesday so it looks like we should escape the worst !! Had this been on the Sunday i can say for sure that we would be submerged big time !!! Oh, our top scale is 10m and they predict a 10.3m on Tuesday !! Oh dear !! Dont look good for the harbour of St Peter Port !!

I'm guessing your sense of humour has desserted you Paul !!
Anyways the situation is dire in Guernsey, no snow in the north of the Island, where i am, but 2 inches in the south which is 100m higher than the north and only 3 miles away !!

Sunny, chilly and breezy. Hoping for it to start snowing 'humble pie' for all the rampers that were on here last week banging on about the 'big freeze' that was going to hit this week, then next week, then first week of new year............. catch my drift ? Well, not my snow drift thats for for sure !

Have seen a fantastic lightning storm overhead, no rain and NO thunder. Hardly any wind either so stuck around for nearly an hour.

I love it. It's only the 9th of Dec, we've had one snow event go poop up after being stupidly overhyped by the so called 'big hitters' on here, who incidentally seem to have crawled back into their shells having made themselves look daft, and its the end of the world for some. Winter hasn't really started in my eyes. As far as I'm concerned anything that happens before Xmas is just a bonus. Just because we had a good dollop 2 years ago in December means nothing !
This week is going to be bland for me at least, with rain and wind likely at the end of the week, BUT its just a forecast which can easily change even in a 5 day timeframe let alone 10 days+. Some people need to remember this.
