  1. Pressure 988, temp 6.1, wind 19mph. Just been reading about the 1987 storm, things went wrong just after midnight when the centre past over SW and it cranked up, i know the chances are v low however the similarities cant be ignored, let alone the same dates and times albeit the wrong month
  2. Since last post, winds increased to 10mph, temp increased slightly to 6.5 C, pressure fluctuating between 993 and 993.2, light rain 3.6 mm so far. As a 10 yr old child 1987 was memorable on the coast here, but as a homeowner now and an insurance agent i want the severe weather without the damage !
  3. Can you folks see my location, i can't tell on my iphone, temp 6.2c pressure 993.5 and both falling slowly, winds 3 - 5 mph Location nr Camber
  4. I had a 54.8 mph gust last week on the Dungeness peninsula
  5. Brookland, Kent, strongest gust 54.8 mph rainfall 64.8mm and still raining, about to blow through i think
  6. Cheeky storm hopping across the channel ! Typical, just when i have painted my windows
  7. The distant flashing of lightning in the channel, and get this, i have access the lifeboat station so am about to go up the observation tower, result although if gets bad im coming down
  8. Well i have headed for Ashford to a Tesco carpark where i can get a 3g signal which is a relief and i'm just a 20 min drive back to the coast if something was to happen later
  9. Very strange sky, smooth darkening background has formed to my south west as i look towards france with streaks of white cloud in places, forgive my lack of cloud knowledge, i have a long wait ahead of me tonight but it will be worth it. Will have to share photos etc afterwards as cant seem to post using my iphone
  10. Sorry this iphone and signal made my last post go wrong, i have nothing to lose as have been kicked out today, whats the worse that can happen if you go storm chasing ! Your girlfriends/wives will understand !
  11. I live in the Brookland area near Lydd which is a few miles from you but have driven to Folkestone to start with, i've got my supplies i'm here until tomorrow, one thing i haven't got and thats coffee ! If i had known that i was being kicked out i would've made a big flask up, i kind of feel i'm on the frontline here, wish i didn't have a glass roof, not sure the faraday effect will work if i get struck !
  12. Currently parked in Folkestone overlooking the harbour, lovely spot, very hazy, poor vis, reminds me of the precursor to a large storm which hopped across channel in 2007 the classic murkyness! Incidentally my wife has kicked me out today, cant go anywhere else until she calms down,so am doing some storm chasing instead, anyone on south coast between dover and hastings over next 24 hrs let me know
