  1. i reckon about 5 hours.... hopefully there will be enough latent heat to give them a boost after their chilly channel crossing. its horribly muggy here still 22.4c 57% humidity so i'm crossing everything.
  2. winds coming from the east here which is just what i need to push them towards me if they make landfall and if theres anything left
  3. dont jinx it now dogs it really does look like its tracking directly towards me. ok thats probably wishful thinking but the images are looking good now.
  4. agreed and if it does could be my first storm of the year think i will try and get some sleep so if it does hit i wont sleep through it !
  5. ive been trying to time the movement and by my primitive think if it was to reach my area it wouldnt be for another 5 hours ! maybe i'll set my alarm also
  6. thanks dogs32 just wanted confirmation i'm not going mad ! current temp here is 23.4c 64% humidity not nice
  7. the last meteox radar image would seem to show a posssible slight change of course but will have to wait for the next few updates to be sure or it could just be the storm is spreading out over a larger area. not sure what the wind direction is as theres barely a breath outside at the moment.
  8. ive been the following the storms off france and they seem to be now heading more nne but on the sat24 image the cloud tracks over southern uk seem to be more nnw. can anyone shed any light on the possible track of the french storms ? Cheers
  9. sat24 images are really juicy watching that lot pop up and its heading in the right direction. so near and yet so far. its a case of will it wont it right now. home grown doesnt look promising and the cloud seems to be thinning again so its up to the frenchies.
  10. 30.6c at the moment ! will keep an eye out on those storms brewing over france but seen the channel kill off storms too many times to get interested just yet. conditions have turned milky and hazy now with a hot sse wind. the red kites are enjoying it though using the thermals to rise to heights where you cant even see them anymore !
  11. blimey lads have you seen that lot rolling in to the south of france ! if only
  12. umm that mass seems to be dying out as it hits the south coast and the rest is straying further west so i miss out again !
  13. that mass heading for the IOW has more behind it now ! its clouded over a lot here now but was lots of sun this morning not sure how the rest of the south faired and if theres going to be enough surface heating. time will tell but it would be nice to see some lightning. can't remember the last time i saw any !
  14. worth keeping an eye on that lot just making landfall. theres still a fair amount of heat thats been absorbed over the last few hours that could help it as it moves north. fingers crossed as its heading hopefully my way
  15. crazy here ! i'm just north of Reading and the radar has been showing a downpour but ive had a few drops heard one rumble and nothing else. lovely cloud formations and very humid but not the electrical activity i hoped for :lol:
  16. just heard a boom but nothing else. conditions look perfect but our storm shield is holding strong
  17. Zip Nothing Not a fluffy white snowflake to be seen Northerly incursions just never pay off so until an easterly shows up i'm not expecting anything.

    I took this the day before a fantastic thunderstorm that hit during dinner.
  21. Latest from Reading data obtained at 10:54.56 5min average temperature = 8.2 degC 5min average wind speed = 5.9 metres per sec=12.5 miles per hour daily averages determined up to 10:54.56 temperature = 6.7 degC wind speed = 5.0 m/s extreme values so far today max temperature 8.3 degC at 1034; min temperature 4.4 degC at 0004; max wind gust 18.0 m/s - 40 Mph at 914;
  22. The other problem is that a lot of reservoirs were removed back in the 80's - 90's and the land recovered. So we are now in the situation where we probably get enough rainfall to keep us going even through dry spells but don't have enough reservoirs to store it in.
