  2. Afternoon all..happy new year ! The wintery stuff moving away seems later on this forecast today than yesterday ! UK Outlook for Sunday 6 Jan 2008 to Tuesday 15 Jan 2008: The period will start with generally unsettled conditions with rain or showers at times, possibly heavy in the north and west, although the south and east may see some clearer spells. Occasional snowfalls may occur in the north and over hills. However, by later in the week (11th January) any snow should have moved away, allowing a somewhat milder west or southwesterly airstream to cover the country. It is likely to be unsettled at times, however, with showers or longer spells of rain, as well as some strong winds. Northwestern parts of the UK will see the most unsettled and windiest weather with the best of the drier, brighter interludes occurring across southeastern parts. These conditions are likely to continue through the remainder of the outlook. Updated: 1135 on Tue 1 Jan 2008
