  1. A real serious situation developing for northern Scotland, at least they are somewhat used to it, if this system was to hit further south there would be major issues.

Will be interesting to see what winds will be recorded.

The Jan 2005 storm caused loss of life and serious problems here.  You can never get used to it.  Hope everyone stays safe for this one.

  2. I see winds in the early hours gusted to 84 mph in Lerwick, 86mph at Fair Isles and a breezy 129mph at the top Bealach Na Ba in the west Scottish Highlands.

ECM, UKMO GM and fax not making much now of Friday's low across the south, GFS still a low with a tight circulation (down to 984mb).

Where can you see the wind speeds as the Bealach is just up the road from Lochcarron where I live.

  3. Thanks Cheggers, I've already topped up my oil lamps and charged as many batteries as I can! All torches have new batteries in them, good supply of candles, plenty coal, wood and kindling. Can't really do much more except go to bed early and listen to the wind screaming around the house! Will be having an early tea and bath, then maybe sit with a dram, purely to keep me warm off course! drunk.gif

we too have candles at the ready. Stuff tied down outside. It looks like a night sleeping downstairs as will be too noisy upstairs. Just surprised by the lack of warnings out.
