  5. I'm sure this gets harder every time I do this, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who takes an age to pick favourites! So, my votes in no particular order are: Weather: Slinky 1 Shadow 3 Blackie 3 Louby 2 Blackie 1 Non Weather: Slinky N2 KFN2 Blackie N3 Louby N1 Debs N1 Good luck as ever to all!
  6. Really high standard again this month, congratulations to all finalists for some lovely shots, but i have gone for weathermaster and blackie, 2 gorgeous shots i could look at and enjoy over and over again.
  7. It really does get harder to pick these each time! In no particular order: Weather: louby1 essan3 mam2 RN1 WM1 Non: blackieN2 sd4N2 blackieN1 filskiN2 OSN1
  8. Vancouver is one of my favourite cities in the world, just gorgeous. I love all of Canada, but Vancouver with mountains and the pacific, is just perfect. Whistler is 90 minutes away and is a fabulous ski resort - not got the breathtaking beauty of the Rockies, but a great resort and with good weather (which they had in abundance last year and is forecast again for this winter) some of the best skiing in Canada. You'll enjoy Fernie though - if you get chance, head over to the Birmingham ski show at the beginning of november - the fernie people will be attending and you can pick up some trail maps etc in advance. Enjoy! And Candice - enjoy the polar bears - great trip! Yes it will be cold, and watch out for your batteries if you have a digital camera, they will need charging more often in the cold!
  9. I've been to Montreal and it is lovely, and is a shorter flight too, only 6-7 hours. But if you don't want to go all the way to the Rockies, but want to go somewhere in Quebec, Quebec City is even lovelier than Montreal, and has many more opportunities close by to do things like snow-tubing, dog sledding, snowmobiling etc. Don't know if you want to go skiing - if you do then the Rockies are definitely your best bet, but if you want the shorter flight, Tremblant resort is just 1.5 hours north of Montreal by road. But Quebec City ticks all the boxes and would be your closest bet - and there is also downhill skiing on the doorstop too. Not the Alps or the Rockies, but a couple of good hills. http://www.quebecregion.com/e/ - Quebec City Tourism's websiteDon't know if you want to go skiing - if you do then the Rockies are definitely your best bet, but if you want the shorter flight, Tremblant resort is just 1.5 hours north of Montreal by road. 10. Hi, if you can overcome your fear of flying, then you can't beat Canada at Christmas. Guaranteed snow, and picture postcard pretty too, espcially in the Rockies. Christmas is not the cheapest time to go, but so worth it. Calgary - where you would fly in for Banff or Lake Louise where I would suggest - is 8.5 hours away; just a dinner and a movie away really!
  11. Ok, thought i would put in two sunsets from Greece - I took so many....
  12. Really hard this month to choose, so here's my eventual choice, in no particular order: Weather: Potsy 2 Shuggee2 philb2 blackie1 essan1 Non weather: EssanN1 SD4N2 BlackieN1 SlinkyN3 BlackieN2
  13. Ok, here is my first ever entry which i was persuaded to put in - it was taken from my bedroom window one evening last week.
  14. Roger, any information you do have on the flood situation in BC generally would be much appreciated. I work for a tour operator selling holidays to Canada and we have had calls from a couple of clients on holiday currently and they are looking for advice on whether they need to change any upcoming travel plans, particularly in Northern BC. Any information you get will be much appreciated. Thank you!
  15. In no particular order my five are: weathermaster 1 wibs2 potsy2 oon3 blackie2 Really good selection again, good luck to all
  16. Cannot believe how hard it was to choose a winner again, and after much deliberation I voted for Essan, such a beautiful shot. All the finalists were fabulous this month again though, and you are all winners with those shots.
  17. Well, i thought it was hard to vote in the February competition, but seeing the shots for March, it is going to be even harder! Your owl shot is amazing DS; just stunning, well done. If you hadnt taken that one, then the eagle shot would be a contender for the winner too. As a lover of sunsets, there are some stunning ones again too, and i love your shots of the eclipse Blackie, very well captured in the different stages. One of these days i might even take a shot worthy of putting up here. Well done to all for this month - oh as it is after midnight, it's now last month of course!
  18. Thought it was about time i put a choice forward, even though so hard to choose, the pictures are lovely as always. So my five, in no particular order are: Rixxgolf2 louby1 Blackie1 essan2 philb1
  19. Thanks Russ, I have been made to feel very welcome! But your comment about the novel does make me think I should change my name... Mind you, that would most likely be completely beyond my technical capabilities
  20. Thanks Kelly, thought it was about time I stopped lurking and said something! The only problem now with me is that once I start, I don't usually stop! Thanks for that too Blackie, your photos are stunning. Since I seem to be technically inept, I'm not sure you will be seeing any pictures from me anytime soon, but may now be braver about posting generally!
  21. There have been some lovely photos on here tonight, so lovely to see, since I have a digital camera that just produced dots! Have been watching the moon turn back to being almost in full light again now and the whole thing has been an amazing sight. Can't actually believe I am writing my first proper post on here at 1.30 in the morning! Wouldn't have missed the eclipse for anything though, it was fabulous to see.
  22. Hi to you both - also new to this and a first post but as i work for a company selling ski holidays to Canada, I was actually on here doing some research and just thought I'd tell you of 2 good sites for snow reports. The BBC's own website has good info on current and forthcoming snow for all the major resorts and if you register on the Ski Club of Great Britain's website (which is free) you can get up to date snow reports and tons of information Canada is having the best snow ever btw, so think about that for future trips!
