Snowing heavily again in St Neots. I feel your pain for those sitting there wishing for snow....it's normally me,
-
Well, now I'm happy. That's the heaviest falling snow I've seen for a long time, and I was standing on the side of the pitch in it.
Still snowing, but now quite fine. If I don't get any more, well that's ok. I'm not greedy. !

A lot of snow reports coming from Lincolnshire / Yorkshire. Even snowing right on the coast with Skeggy reporting snow now. Fingers crossed they keep heading south.
-
4.2C here. What cold spell ? Lol
Didn't think it' would get that high today, although I suspect it will start to drop again soon.
We have had heavy rain, and heavy snow falling today, but it didn't really settle on the soaking wet surfaces.
Dry, and brighter now, although the wind has definitely picked up.
-
ITV weather, just think it will be mainly rain and sleet tonight, and into tomorrow morning.
If it's that marginal, I know full well I will be waking up to wet surfaces outside in the morning.
-
Just gave as covering on all surfaces as it skirted past me in the early hours
-
It gave a covering as it skirted past St Neots in west Cambs in the early hours
-
So the BBC are going W. Going to have to disagree with them on this one!
Hi TEITS, so in your opinion then, do you believe the track to be heading further East ? . If that's the case, do you think that, the snow will affect our area, moving through the midlands and clipping Peterborough then down to St Neots ? Or am I seriously clutching at straws ?

Heavy snow in St Neots now, settling on grass but not roads
-
An impressive -6.5c this morning. Quite expected the temp to have risen overnight as the milder air approaches, however it continued to fall.
-
These low temps were certainly not forecast. I saw the BBC forecast earlier and they said -1 or -2c.
I think even they will be surprised by these very low temps.

Just took the dog for a quick walk, and I can say it's proper cold out there.!
I currently have -5c which is alittle surprising, so we could see a -6 or -7c in the early hours.
-
I live not far away and yes it has started to melt. My son played last Saturday on their and it was virtually frozen lol but they played. I am sure it will be gone on Sunday as we are in for a warmish day Saturday.
Thanks for that. Yeah, I'm thinking all will be ok by Sunday.
-
I live about 300yards from Rainworth FC lol
Roads are pretty much ok, about 3-4cm of snow on garden/grass/footie pitch, but it's due to warm up by the weekend. Sunny on Saturday 5deg and up to 7degrees on Sunday so would have thought the game will be on
Hi, just looking for an update. Has all the snow now melted in your area, obviously thinking more of the pitch, thanks. How spooky is that, thanks for the info, fingers crossed the pitch is fit for Sunday then. Thanks again

Hi Midlanders ! Looking for some info, my County football team are playing Nottinghamshire at Rainworth FC on Sunday.
Is there anyone from the area on here ? Do you have much lying snow, if so, I doubt the game will be played, unless a quick thaw and it drains quick.
Thanks

Light snow failing, but not really making any difference, but nice to see against lamp post

Sleet here in St Neots
-
Temp. gone up to 2.4c now and light drizzle now falling. Can't see it turning to snow as things stand at present, but then it wasn't expected to.
-
I think we are hoping for a few surprises overnight. Only sleet forecast here in Cambs later, all the snow is supposed to be further north and west. Fingers crossed.
-
Met Office don't think the snow will reach / affect E.Anglia. All warnings stop as far as E Midlands, but do include Peterborough.
I'm in St Neots, about 25 miles south of Petereborough, so may see a flake or two, but if I was a betting man I would have to say sleet at best if anything fell around here.
-
Latest BBC forecast think it will only be rain when that system reaches us On Wednesday, maybe alittle sleet at best, so quite disappointing, then by Friday temps up to 5c with a milder SW wind.
So low confidence for our region regarding anything wintery.
-
Yeah here in St Neots the temp has risen during the evening.Good point, just had to go outside and look, and yes it appears to have clouded over, hard to tell from inside. still cold out, but does not feel as bitter as it did a few hours ago.
It was freezing quickly at 6pm with temps down to -1.5c but then cloud rolled in and temp is a balmy +2c
So much for the coldest night of the year, it just proves....they can't predict anything correctly can they, even within a few hours.

We are obviously in the sweet spot as well tonight. Been snowing since 8pm now, snowing heavily still. Decent covering.
Been round next door with the snow shovel to clear my elderly neighbours paths and salt them.
