Glad someone around here has seen something. My hope is that the 'gap' closes or the bands move or merge. As it stands I cant believe its happened again for a 3rd consecutive easterly. What ever happened to a decent northerly? They seem to be extinct!
I feel your pain
You could not make it up!
As I said in an earlier post worrying times if these easterly’s keep on failing to delivery for us
I have forgotten what lying snow looks like

Worrying times for snow lovers in low lying East Yorks
This winter is a cold one by modern standards and yet we still have not had a covering
Have to go back to the beast from the east for the last covering of snow here
If we can’t get snowfall in this set up , one does have to wonder when we will?
Radar looks same as yesterday here -say’s it’s snowing -it isn’t !
Good Luck everyone for today

I can confirm the infamous East York’s snow shield was broken here for 10mins in heavier burst
At sea level
Bodes well for those in the West of our region

2-3cm covering here. Most since March 2013.Roads are not too bad as not icy underneath and appear to have been ploughed.

Congrats to the Hull/Beverley area-the wait is over . About 1cm laying on the ground and still snowing.

Sleet here . The wait since March 30th 2013 for snow continues.

most roads in that area will still be wall to wall but cleared roads the higher you go the better but many lowwer roads still have very impressive drifts.be prepared to be shocked these drifts will not melt until end of april or possibly well into may
Yes it will be quite strange going an hour down the road from snow free Beverley to that! Thanks

Many thanks and I look forward to the walk around Holmfirth and local villages tomorrow.
Most roads have now been cleared so are at least passable if still down to one lane in places, although I believe some of the highest routes are still blocked, (Holmfirth-Woodhead over Holme Moss for example). Some side roads and minor lanes are still blocked with 4-6 ft drifts though, (like the one I live on). And where the snow has been cleared there are some huge piles of the stuff, (reminds me a bit of when I lived in mid-Wales in 1982 though not quite on the same scale). I don't think you'll have any problems getting about though, and I'd say it's well worth a day trip !

Any reports of local snow depths around Holmfirth area would be appreciated as thinking of walking in the area on Sunday.

Any local snow depth/road conditions around the Holmfirth/Huddersfield area today would be appreciated.Thinking of going walking around that area on Sunday.

As thundery says looking v marginal for some tonight near/on east coast. Met office forecast is for rain/sleet in these areas-let's hope they are wrong!

I'm pleased with the latest GFS run- it seems that regarding the 850hPa temps for next week, the GFS has shown more movement towards UKMO/ECMWF than vice versa and inland parts of the region are looking good for frontal snow tomorrow night and then snow showers off the North Sea late on Monday and into Tuesday.
The breakdown to milder weather after Thursday is also starting to look less convincing- indeed the GFS 18Z progs suggest further frontal snow, with the milder weather struggling to penetrate beyond south-western Britain, though of course that's a long way out.
It looks dicey near the east coast though from tomorrow evening onwards- could turn rather slushy/icy.

6.2c for me please.

Met office currently have a weather warning in force for ice covering the whole region.
There is no warning in place anywhere within yorks/lincs for snow, only an advisory issued yesterday.
Looking at the radar i would say the met office are correct.

Showers now moving South/SW, Humber area HERE THEY COME
Lewis,Thanks for your invaluable input during the cold spell-does make the forum an interesting place to be.However as last night ,im afraid i have to disagree and see nothing currently on the radar/charts which suggest anything other than a few light/moderate snow showers for Beverley/Hull in the next 48 hours.Hope i am proved totally wrong!

I would sum up this period of weather for the HU17 as follows, undoubtedly cold and lengthy. What has been surprising is the lack of depth of any snow.A maximum depth of 3cm's from the sypnotics shown is somewhat disppointing.Overnight was mostly dry ,with temp's hovering above freezing(currently 0.6c ),hence no real ice.Slow thaw has already set in and with the warming effect of the north sea coming into effect due to the wind i do not expect this to change.
I do not see any prolonged snowfall or harsh frost's for HU17 likely within the next 48hrs,but obviously hope i am completely wrong!
Feb 2nd '09 certainly better here for depth of snow.
Think i may pay a visit to West/North York's for some proper snow.
-
Light/Moderate snow on/off all day.Snow depth a slightly disappointing 3cm's-so far !
-
Currently -7.3c ,snow depth approximately 4-5cm's.Glorious morning with the sun just starting to rise.
-
-13.3c at Topcliffe last night on the snow fields-rather chilly !

I really hope i am wrong but i does seem to me the met office are starting to downgrade the cold spell.I have certainly seen no press releases or forecasters talking about snow within the last 24HRS .Paul Hudson our local BBC weatherman was getting very excited on Tues/Wed with talk of snow in our area. Now for Monday/Tuesday -"Temps just below average with rain,no sign of snow ".I know we should take the met office further outlook with a pinch of salt but i do not believe in the short term we have the potential for snow.Contrast this with most posts 24/36 hrs ago when talk of snow for the south east sunday night/monday was widespread.
Anyway thanks to all whom make this site such an informative read and hopefully come Tues/wed this post will have been consigned to the rubbish bin!
