  1. End of the cold snap here now.Raining and temp's rising quite quickly up to 1.2 from 0c an hour ago.Pretty much according to forecast, mild sector has taken over. Can't complain.5cm's lying which is what i expected this morning.Surprised when i got out of my car in Hull to find just about 1cm.As i stated a couple of days ago goes to show just how localised these events can be .

I think one thing which may have surpised some people was the lack of intensity in the showers overnight for some locations.

Have fun everyone in the pennines and keep safe.

  2. I really hope im wrong but im starting to get slightly concerned re prospects for lying snow in Hull/Beverley area. Activity tonight looks to be in the form of showers which are not heavy at the moment .The main precipitation looks to be from the band tomorrow afternoon when this areas proximity to the mild sector may well mean we get a sleety mix. Will be lucky to get a decent covering at this rate.

  3. Even now we still get post with "North Humberside" on, it drives my other half mad :)

We were extremely unlucky for snow here, when Beverley we had those two days of snow falling in early December we had just had a wintry mix. It was extremely marginal and our closer proximity to water and being at sea level meant it didnt go our way.

At least for 24 hours or so this time, 'marginal' shouldnt be a word that appears.

Indeed ,Hull is certainly not the best place to be if you are a snow lover. This is increasingly looking like a 24 hour event for the unfavoured locations due to the mild sector encroaching.I think there will be wide variations in snowfall totals depending on location.Good Luck to everyone and lets hope we all see some snow .

  4. A maximum temperature of just 2.9C, making it the second coldest max of 2008 so far. A convective day aswell, with sunny spells and occasional snow showers.

Currently 0.3C and heading for the first air frost of the season (October had a min of 0.1C, we just missed out).

I think today for me has summed up how localised the weather can be.Just a few miles up the road here and we have had a surprsingly low maximum of 1.8C with snow showers on/off all day.Have a slight covering and becoming very icy.

Current temp of -0.6c with a few flakes in the air.
