Heaviest shower of the day just passed through Southend. Decent sized flakes.
If only it would settle...

Big fluffy flakes now, surprised as I thought it was going to be just small stuff.

A good 6/10 in Leigh on Sea and trying to settle but only small flakes. Some will do well today a bit further inland and with elevation.

Snowing heavy now in Benfleet, starting to lay on paths. Roofs and grass already covered. Any signs of transition in southend?
Very briefly when it got heavier, now back to light rain. Need a full on easterly here for the estaury to be our friend.

Started off as rain in Benfleet but turned to snow around 5am. Nothing settling. Seems to be getting a little heavier now.
Thanks that's good to hear, seem to have our own micro climate here, with snow falling just over the estuary in Kent.

Rain all the way here in Southend, I'm guessing from the lack of snow reports that is the case across South Essex?

Very heavy rain for past hour in Southend, large wet flakes mixed in, 1.9c and dropping.

Local variations quite incredible here in South Essex.
Southend : Rain with the odd flake.
5 miles away in Hockley, Rayleigh and all points west 1-3” of snow.
Feel gutted, such fine margins!

Missing out as usual in Great Wakering, Essex. Heavy rain. All the white stuff about 5 miles west of us and the radar keeps it there all night.
I know the difference of a few miles, hard to believe low lying Canvey has snow.

Raging blizzard now on Akureyrj live webcam ( Capital of the North of Iceland ) No idea how to upload it on this forum. Maybe someone can on here ? Looks like a real winter storm going on up there presently.

Yes, North and West Iceland experiencing an early taste of winter, absolute belter of a snow storm hitting at the moment! Although not unusual to get snow in late September the intensity is quite something to view on the web cams for this time of year.
