Any clues to how long the French flurry train is going to last?
Not sure but it looks like it may be breaking apart perhaps. So maybe another 2-4 hours? Still chucking it down in Manston though!
-
P.S. If anyone is a fan of Fringe on Sky 1, last ever episodes are being screened in just over an hour. Same time as in the USA, much like they did for Lost.
I'm a fan but still not seen Season 4 yet, got a bit behind...

Looking at the radar at the moment and it doesn't look like this blob of snow action over us is going to end anytime this morning, hopefully still be going in the morning!
-
Why do I feel like this will be a long long night of lamp post and radar watching?!? Handy my PC is next to the window with a lampost near by...!
-
Am i correct in thinking Thanet is in line for a couple hours of snow?
Looks that way, Seems to be coming up from France before going over us then on to Essex!
-
Finally, we have some snow fall in Manston!!! Going horizontal across the distant lamp post!
-
Looks like Folkestone should start to see some snow shortly, the front looks to be swinging round now.
-
Suns popped out in Westgate on sea now! But was snowing earlier, large flakes but very light. South of Thanet is probably doing ok though.
-
Snowing in Westgate on Sea now, not really settling however.
-
It all seems to be scooting around us in Manston!!!
-
Surely 10cm is a lot of snow for some, light or heavy ?
It's enough to make getting to work in the morning tricky if the roads are not gritted.
-
Mmmm Rachel!

Looks like the 'blob' in the north sea is beginning to turn towards Kent. Is this the start of the change in wind direction?
Am I going to be able to get to work tomorrow in my rear wheel drive sports car on non winter tires?
-
Lot's of lovely rain in Westgate on Sea. Let's face it, this winter is going to be best known for being a wash out!
-
According to the radar, we should have precipitation in Westgate on Sea. Nothing!
-
All I see is blue sky at the moment, a gorgeous winters day!

People really are under estimating the strength of Cold over in France at the moment. Just take a look at the Temperature and Dewpoint readings as the South Easterly has picked up across Essex and Kent at the moment.
Manston has -3c Temp and -6c Dewpoint from the continental flow
Southend has dropped down to -1c Temp and -3 Dewpoint again with a South Easterly blowing.
So Planet Thanet your readings are correct I would say
I can confirm it's pretty cold in Manston at the moment, we had some snow last night and it's certainly not going anywhere!
Off to Canterbury this afternoon for drinks and food, should aim to get back home for 10-11pm before the trains get screwed. Feel sorry for my mate who has to go back to London though!! lol.

Anyone remember Jan 1987? Got sent home from work early, parked the car and didn't move it for a week! Tried to walk up Titsey Hill from Oxted with the intent of poly bagging down the North Downs, but only got as far as the M25 and was in thigh deep drifts. Tatsfield, near Biggin Hill was cut off, the pub ran out of beer and a pregnant woman had to be airlifted to hospital. There was a photo of the bus stop on the ridge totally covered with only the top of the sign sticking out. Drifts must have been 8ft at least!
Yep, was only 8 then, dad has it on video from when he was working on the Isle of Sheppey doing car transporting, not seen the video for sometime but can remember some very deep drifts!!! Must dig the video out and get it on YouTube!

Snowing a little in Manston!
-
That's just up the road ! , what depths you got there?
Hardly anything tbh, it's all blowing around! We're starting to see snow laying on the snow from a few nights ago now and the cars are starting to cover whereas before the snow was melting quite quickly.
Hoping these showers develop into something heavier, especially as temperatures now seem to be dropping as we approach sunset time.
-
Whiteout in Manston atm... probably be gone by the time I post this!!
-
been snowing on and off since about lunchtime here. Although we are having some heavy spells the wind is blowing the showers away all too quickly so not much is laying. Also, most of the snow is like polystyrene with a few larger flakes starting to appear.
I hate snow and wind, love it when it falls down gently like the other night.
-
Some very light snow showers earlier this evening but nothing since. All the action seems to be 20-30 miles to my west.
Same same. Just taking a light shower right now, looks to be some action building to the NE that may affect us shortly.

i want to cry - i think i am the person on this forum most close but missed that streamer :( boo hoo
I'm missing it too in Manston, really bloody annoying knowing how Herne Bay / Whitstable / Canterbury have it, especially knowing I used to live over that way a while ago...

Great posts John! I thought the snow was supposed to die away late evening? Are we looking at even more???
