  1. People really are under estimating the strength of Cold over in France at the moment. Just take a look at the Temperature and Dewpoint readings as the South Easterly has picked up across Essex and Kent at the moment.

Manston has -3c Temp and -6c Dewpoint from the continental flow

Southend has dropped down to -1c Temp and -3 Dewpoint again with a South Easterly blowing.

So Planet Thanet your readings are correct I would say

I can confirm it's pretty cold in Manston at the moment, we had some snow last night and it's certainly not going anywhere!

Off to Canterbury this afternoon for drinks and food, should aim to get back home for 10-11pm before the trains get screwed. Feel sorry for my mate who has to go back to London though!! lol.

  2. Anyone remember Jan 1987? Got sent home from work early, parked the car and didn't move it for a week! Tried to walk up Titsey Hill from Oxted with the intent of poly bagging down the North Downs, but only got as far as the M25 and was in thigh deep drifts. Tatsfield, near Biggin Hill was cut off, the pub ran out of beer and a pregnant woman had to be airlifted to hospital. There was a photo of the bus stop on the ridge totally covered with only the top of the sign sticking out. Drifts must have been 8ft at least!

Yep, was only 8 then, dad has it on video from when he was working on the Isle of Sheppey doing car transporting, not seen the video for sometime but can remember some very deep drifts!!! Must dig the video out and get it on YouTube! :)

  3. That's just up the road ! , what depths you got there?

Hardly anything tbh, it's all blowing around! We're starting to see snow laying on the snow from a few nights ago now and the cars are starting to cover whereas before the snow was melting quite quickly.

Hoping these showers develop into something heavier, especially as temperatures now seem to be dropping as we approach sunset time.
