Wow. Currently out round the old mines in scunny and then next heading up to risby top.
Snow is pelting it down.
Going out on a bang
Hopefully it will all be snow with incredible depths later in the night lol
-
Blimey the snowfall really is amazing here at the minute
-
The radar really is amazing at the moment, with some incredible totals very likely.
-
Heavy snow now
-
It looks like some very heavy PPN should reach here within the next 5 mins.BRING IT ON
-
I'm hoping for that too. Those dark oranges/purples look lovely on the radar and should hit our area over the next few hours.
The radar is looking better each time it updates now
-
don't worry it's all snow now
Excellent.Hopefully the real intense PPN will give us a pasting Temp nice and steady at -1c.
-
Freezing ice pellets at moment lol
Same here at the minute.
-
The temp is dropping nicely now, almost down to -1c
-
A little dusting on the pavements here from earlier, but so far not looking like much of an event here.Plenty of time yet though.
-
Is that long heavy section not lining up nicely with north lincs. hard to see on my mobile
Anything that gets within 50miles of here weakens bigtime sadly. The direction it's coming in isn't good at all as the pennines will shred it to bits.I'm giving the radar a miss for a few hours lol.We might get something later but don't get your hopes up.
-
Not looking good at all here, with the pennines weakening it bigtime as expected.
-
The temp and dew points are looking very good atm, but just need to get lucky with some heavy PPN to get a good covering.
-
thunder storms are worst here watching the radar then it dies off about 10 miles away all way round dunscroft/hatfield lol
Normally the storms weaken here and then intensify towards Places like Grimsby and Louth. As for tonight, well i'd be happy with a few inches of snow, but there could easily be a lot more if the heavy PPN hits.
-
Happens too often. Squall line gap appears, line T-Storms gap appears. Is there a huge invisible mountain out that way?
It's pretty much the same here too.The dreaded gap from the pennines.
-
Bitterly cold today thats for sure, and looking very good for later.
-
The local forecast looked awesome with significant snowfall this evening, and the temps staying below freezing throughout the night after the snow clears.
-
Hopefully some cloud breaks later to allow the temps to take a tumble.Disappointing here in recent days, as the temp hasn't even been below freezing since around last sunday, with the temps constantly around 2c during the day and night and a slow thaw of the snow each day since then.Down to 0.4c currently though.
-
Not really a big thaw here as such. Temperature has risen a little in the last few hours though, now up to 1.0c.
The temperatures forecast for tonight at anywhere between -3c and -8c look woefully wide of the mark however!
No chance of the temp getting below freezing here tonight which i mentioned earlier. The temps that were forecast were also woefully off the mark for last night and several days last week.I think all the snow will of gone here by the morning.
-
Yet again the local forecast suggests a hard frost tonight for here and i just can't see it happening. The same thing happened before the last snow event and the temps stayed above freezing for a few nights.
-
Gutted its warmed up here. A nice bit of ppn coming from the wash area at the moment.
Me too. I wasn't really expecting a thaw at all today and i definitely wasn't expecting any rain.Ahwell at least we've had 3 snow events and it was great whilst it lasted.
-
A rapid thaw is now taking place It's raining now aswell.
-
For what its worth has anyone seen the GFS 06z Control run? shows a very quick route back to cold with a high pressure shifting towards greenland
If only lol.A slight thaw on the roof tops so far and the cloud is now approaching from the South.
-
Reading the Model thread Steve M seems very downbeat about the cold after this week more or less said winter is over :-(
The charts are very poor from the weekend onwards, but i wouldn't be surprised if we get another cold spell at some point during February. In the mean time it's very cold here with a blanket of snow,so i'm very happy

It sounds like there is plenty of ice pellets here too still, with plenty of big flakes also.
