Hi Guys,
We always knew Friday 4th May was going to be the "Day before the Day" event and that Supercell would be scattered but to get pictures of 3 LP Supercells lined up was great. We also have video footage of the developing Supercell that became the 1 and a half mile wide wedge that has destroyed Greensburg (Ks), at one point we were 15 miles east of the Supercell but followed the rule back to get the southern storm.
Started out in Amarillo and headed North to Dodge City, it became apparant that we were well behind the dryline and blasted east to St John where we met up with Darin Brunin from Stormtrack, we all watched the developing Supercells in Oklahoma that were tracking towards Kansas and all took off, we were 250 miles away but that soon became 85 after about 45 minutes, we were 90mph south and the storm was 35mph North. After briefly gassing up in Pratt we got just east of the 3 storms that were lined up, the Northern most went onto destroy Greensburg and Macksville (Ks) we were well within reach of these but decided that chasing a Mile and a half wedge at night is not fun so grabbed Pizza and stayed in Alva (Ok) just on the Kansas border.
